IAEA Director General Visits UAE Nuclear Power Plant Site
18 February 2013 | IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano visited the construction site of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The UAE is the first country in 27 years to build its first Nuclear Power Plant.

The United Arab Emirate's Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) was established in 2009, 18 February 2013.
In 2008 the United Arab Emirates conducted an in-depth survey of the country's increasing energy demands and its capacity to generate electricity, 18 February 2013.
