A year (2012) of magical hair with Salon Vim

Jan 2012

I’ve been doing crazy colors for a while by then, but I finally took the plunge and kicked off 2012 with my favorite hair color of all – Turquoise.

It was a color and effect only a salon could achieve for me – and I decided to get that done by John of Salon Vim.

Mind you, at the time I wasn’t sponsored yet but I trusted them so much. It was… life changing. I couldn’t go back again after bleaching so much of my hair. My friends said I looked #likeaguppy (a fighting fish more likely)

Read more here. I still think that turquoise has the nicest fadeout and growing out color because it is still somewhat yellow based and blends in really well with the yellow when it fades.

Then later on it faded out really well and then I got pregnant and didn’t do my hair for a while, then I got a miscarriage and came back with pink-purple hair #likealittlepony.

Sept 2012

Like I said… no turning back.

And one of the happiest moments of 2012 would be getting sponsored by Salon Vim. Thank you Gary, John and also to my lovely new appointed stylist, Stephanie. (I think John was doing a happy dance knowing he’s not gonna be doing my hair anymore hahaha)

Stephanie did my hair this time round, and boom. Purple – Blue – Turquoise was born.

By sponsoring my hair ah, I think they seriously Lugi (making losses) big time, hahaha. My hair is _really_ thick and all these colors I’m doing… even my ass hurts from all that sitting.

I think even Stephanie got sick of seeing me by 2012 year’s end ahahaha. I will continue to bribe everyone with food. *winks at Yina*

And then Estrella’s Wedding came by and it was time to touch up. Purple-blue faded pretty nicely because purple neutralizes the red in my hair, so it didn’t fade as badly or became orange like pinks or reds. But my roots.. Gah. My hair grows so fast…

Stephanie performed her magic again, and….

Boom!
MAD LOVE THIS. I had to bleach my roots even more to get this bright, intense purple.

Nov 2012

Because of all the gymming, my hair grew out even faster *screaming face icon* And I had to go back to touch up my roots again. I loved the faded purple, really. It was just so right for the season. But I couldn’t stand the roots again!!!

And then Stephanie did the unexpected – I never knew they could do this – she touched up my hair and did my roots to be the same as the rest of my faded hair (blue faded ombre aside). Gosh!

And if you think that was my most 感动 moment of 2012, you’re wrong.

Dec 2012

On Dec 31st, I got my final hair color of 2012 done up again!

For some reason this just looks so… Kpop. (TOP’s hair was green too, right? haha)

Jan 2013

And then came 2013 – I went to the salon again (since I was going there to do some work) for part 2 of my dye job, and got some harsher lines blended out.

And ding. Gary and his team at Salon Vim Bugis worked his wonders on me with his shaded ombre technique.

IT IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED. Magic hands, I tell you. MAGIC!

Cannot tell you how happy I am. I know my roots grow out damn fast and I’ll be ugly again in 3 week’s time so if you wanna meet my hair please jio me out before the end of January, hahaha.

I know I keep on staying on the same spectrum of colors (purple turquoise blue purple turquoise blue) but they are my favorite colors after all, and everyone’s already doing purple. So I’m going back to my turquoise!

And I feel like this once more.

DO YOUR HAIR BEFORE 15TH JAN

Eh if you want to be fabulous, you can still do it in time for CNY you know. WITH A 20% DISCOUNT. OR 30% if you decide to join as a member. Your choice hor!

But this offer is only valid at Salon Vim Bugis – Yes, they now have a branch in Bugis Village, and they occupy 2 storeys of a shophouse!

Gary will be on Thursdays only if you’re interested in having one of the directors work his magic on your hair – but take note that director fees apply (haircut for $70!).

Other than all the cute boys there (Gary on thursdays, remember) One of my favorite feature would be – they have a nice, clean toilet on each level, hahaha! You don’t ever have to walk out of the salon to the toilet with a towel wrapped around your head again! (my skin very thick – i do that all the time at SV Somerset hahaha)

Hi, for the membership is it lifetime?

Hi, I’m really fascinated by the hair colors that u do. U’re really daring. I always love purple n blue. I would really love to do it but of cos not the whole head. My husband will kill me n my kids might think I’m a freak. I only dyed my hair once in my entire 28 years n it was free. Cos the salon requires a hair model. Seeing so much praises on salon vim, I decided to give it a try. Care to share should I go to somerset or bugis village? Who’s the best? I wanna do a little trim on the ends too.

      Hi, Daphne!

You can either look for Stephanie at Somerset 313, or look for either Sham or Weng at Bugis Village branch. They’re all senior stylists so any one of them will be a great choice! Perhaps you could try calling to book an appointment first, or email in with a picture (I assume you’re trying to do something like Yina’s partial highlights, but in purple and blue?) with your hair length to enquire about the cost?

      Salon Vim Bugis – +65 6837 0073 / +65 6837 0045

Hope you’ll be happy with your experience at SV!
