The story of how Troll 2 widely regarded as the worst movie ever made was returned from obscurity by fans and elevated to cult status, cue Troll 2 parties...also how the "stars" ended up being hero worshipped much to their total shock.

Japanese soldiers on an island in WWII discover a Pterodactyl! meanwhile a B-29 with an all female crew (wearing full make up) is on the way to nuke Japan, in a twist of fate the two form an uneasy alliance to tackle the beasts, war is hell. Stars Brian "sargeant, show me your grenades" Krause, so you are guaranteed a large slice of ham (or wood) it's bad, really bad.

Best Worst Movie (Documentary about Troll 2)

Watched before, soon after watching troll 2. .......8/10
The most emotional scene for me was, when he participated in the horror carnival and felt bad about the horror movies transformation, and when people didn't visit the troll 2 goodies stall. It was kinda sad at moments after second half.

The other b-documentary Not quite Hollywood I have watched before. Simply epic. How Oz cult movies were inspiration to many great new age directors and changed adequately the course of b-elements. Very nice.. 9/10

This week's Favorite.. Very Happy

carcavella's recommendation (from other thread) Corman's world is a tearjerker for the bad-movies fans, constant goosebumps. Flashbacks from old b-flicks golden moments, perfect! I'll watch it few more times. 10/10

Other notable b-flicks I watched this week.

Also MILF (2010), Barely legal (2011) are similar craps to the cheerleader flick...lol

The Blob ..

Image

The Blob is an independently made 1958 American horror/science-fiction film that depicts a giant amoeba-like alien that came from outer space and terrorizes the small community of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. In the style of American International Pictures, Paramount Pictures released the film as a double feature with I Married a Monster from Outer Space.
The film was Steve McQueen's debut leading role, and also starred Aneta Corsaut. The film's tongue-in-cheek theme song, "Beware of the Blob", was written by Burt Bacharach and Mack David and became a nationwide hit in the U.S. It was recorded by studio group the Five Blobs—actually singer Bernie Nee overdubbing himself

This is kinda tricky as I'm not really sure what qualifies as a good bad movie, Im guessing its a movie I enjoyed even though it is obvious tripe. So if that is the criteria, here is my list....

Mortal Kombat
Commando
The Running Man
Bloodsport
Kickboxer
Freddie Got Fingered (I laughed like a maniac, the version I saw was **FULLY** uncut. Admittedly terrible movie for terrible people).
Hard Target
Universal Soldier

Probably more, generally I dont enjoy crap movies though Laughing

Yeah the wind really came out of his sails when he went to the Birmingham NEC and the only two guys milling around hadn't heard of Troll 2, safe to say it's revival wasn't a global thing. The other one I felt a bit sorry for was the young actress who started out wanting a serious career and was too embarrassed to put Troll 2 on her resume and never talked about it for years, then made the fatal mistake of reading through the comments on imdb.....oops.

Icequake! it's a bit like an earthquake but with an upsurge of thermoplasty material and methane gas?! time to see how many times you can say "what was that?" and look at computer screens using graphics you last saw in 1989. Personally I could have done with a lot more action in this I think it suffers from not having some form of creature in it, it was a bit of a let down.

As if having sharks in Venice wasn't enough there's catacombs with Indiana Jones style traps, treasure, bad guy with truly terrible accent, Mafia hit men and a ton of great B-grade action, also great use of stock tourist footage of Venice so it looks like it was actually filmed there. Stars B-movie favourite Stephen Baldwin who makes Brian Krause look like an Oscar nominee. Recommended.

It's a comedy but still real low budget B-movie material. Alien lands in a scrapyard in red neck country and locals put up a reward to get rid of it, every misfit in town turns up (including gun toting pole dancer!) armed to the teeth but the ever resourceful alien is always one step ahead. Top notch B-entertainment, certainly one of the better B-movies I've watched this year. Recommended.

Asylum re-hash of the old 70's movie of the same name with Doug McClure. Boat goes through a rip in the atmosphere and ends up in another dimension near a mysterious island inhabited by shitty CGI dinosaurs and worse....Nazis! watch out for the old school rubber octopus scene, stars Timothy bottoms who once had an acting career and Lindsey McKeon providing the female eye candy.

A curse is turning people into gargoyles! luckily some Knights Templar are passing through in this Asylum offering. Plus points; great locations (all filmed in Wales) minus; slight oversight by the director as a c1920's sailing vessel is used in a scene but who cares about historical detail and the acting is truly awful even by Asylum's low standards, it's first (and last) time out for most of the cast, no previous experience required....literally. Worth watching for the acting alone.

Image

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1016024

Sci-fi channel flick offers cheap sets and aliens with American accents as a guy lands on a planet (or Arizona) to test a talking spacesuit and has to survive terrible fight sequences, bad acting in spades and a rubber reptile attack.

Image

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1642193/

Death Kappa! it's a goblin/turtle like creature from Japanese folklore, normally friendly but as a monster attacks Tokyo and the army's 1/72 scale toy tanks fail to make an impression the Kappa comes to the rescue and it's down to two guys in monster suits fighting in a Tokyo lovingly crafted from cardboard boxes and egg cartons...truly inspiring cinema!
trailer gets bonus points for keeping with 1950's B-movie tradition

Sharks in Noo Juysey! Sy-Fy channel hokum. All the guys look like gay body builders, orange tinted girls with retro hair-do's make bimbo's look sophisticated and everyone goes way over the top with the accents, this B-flick is about about as high camp as it gets. Highlights: the wet T-shirt contest and flying shark attack and top marks for spurty blood effects, this is a contender for best/worst B-movie of the year. Unmissable.

Back to 1984 for this B-tastic sexploitation offering. Describes itself as Barbarella meets Indiana Jones which just about covers it, camp, kitsch, with shovel loads of bad dialogue and nudity the director has previous soft porn to his credit. Second half of the movie is the better and Barbarella-esque as they meet the amazons and the camp-o-meter goes off the scale, actually must have had a decent budget at the time and Tawny Kitaen looks lovely throughout.
Short clip from the French version which is the kind of thing cinema was invented for..
