Arcadia

To bring the story up to date. In 1953 a ballroom was added and the “Arcadia” (sometimes pronounced “Arcadja”) became one of the great venues for showbands. The advent of the “Troubles” and the disco resulted in its closure in the mid-70’s. It lay vacant for many years quickly becoming an eyesore. There were several schemes for the building including replacement by student accommodation but none materialised. The ballroom was demolished (as, I recall, a dangerous structure).
Its now a toilet.
I accept I have overprocessed here but it is an iconic white building that protrudes into the sea and quite visual??
Modern Monday

It’s been 12 years since the release of Annika Lidne’s novel "CoMa" (short for Copenhagen / Malmö). I’m sure she, or at least her publishers, thought it was very modern at the time. Unfortunately I never read it when I bought it, but writing "Information wants to be free" on the intro page was kind of corny back then, and it certainly feels corny today…
