Should You Get Matching Wedding Rings?

As a couple, when getting married you will be on the hunt for wedding rings. There is the option of buying matching rings, which can offer benefits of lower prices and to show a union physically. However, there are downsides and one of those is a difference in tastes.

Lower Prices for Matching Rings

Matching wedding rings often come with a lower price tag. This is because they are bought together and usually packaged that way in the store or online. There is a discount for placing the one order and if you look at the two rings separately, you will usually find that they are more expensive. This helps to keep your wedding on a budget.

Various Styles

The wedding rings come in various styles and designs to suit the varying tastes. There are yellow gold, white gold and platinum options with jewels and engraving to offer something for everyone. However, the ring styles in the pair will be the same – usually with the woman’s wring slightly smaller. This can offer the downside of varying tastes between the couple.

One of the spouses may want a mix of two different colours, such as yellow and white gold, while the other one may want a block colour. This is difficult to find in a matching set and leads to the couple having to either make a sacrifice or finding separate rings to suit their own styles.

Bespoke Ring Sets

One way around the downside is to buy a bespoke ring set. This will allow the couple to choose something that matches their own tastes, while showing the unity between them. It could mean slight similarities, such as the same engraving, or having dual colours but in the opposite way on the rings – for example, the man could have predominately yellow gold while the woman has predominately white gold.

Engravings to Show Unity

Instead of opting for matching wedding rings, there is the option to have the rings engraved. This could be with the date of the wedding or a special saying between the couple. This is more personal for many and means that the spouses can have their own style with a connection.

Matching wedding rings are excellent for those who have very similar tastes and are looking to save money. However, they offer a downside for those who prefer completely different styles of rings. Sometimes opting for an engraving is the best option.
