Beware the Metal Plate Connected Wood Truss
On Wednesday, January 16th, from 1:00pm - 4:00pm, AIA Detroit's Building Codes and Regulations Committee is hosting a learning seminar at the San Marino Club in Troy. With lunch included for those who pre-register, and 3 hours of HSW Learning Units available, this is definitely an event worth attending!
Seminar Description
The ubiquitous metal plate connected wood truss offers multiple opportunities for slip-ups. John Gruber, PE, president of Sheppard Engineering has made a career of determining why and how wood trusses fail. Mr. Gruber will present the cautions of using MPCWTs to the South Eastern Michigan Building Officials and Inspectors Association and offer ways to anticipate and avoid the most common design and construction problems. Architects and other construction professionals are invited.
