Propecia: Does it Work?

Many people have a lot to say about Propecia and its capacity to cure baldness in men. However, the question is, does it really work? To have a better understanding of the product, men should take a careful look on two studies that involve this treatment. The first study showed that forty eight percent experienced hair growth after they took the drug. The second study indicates that only ten percent lost their hair while forty two percent experienced hair growth.

Also, many men observed that those who stopped using the product for a year noticed that the beneficial effects of the product stopped as well. Like any other treatment, this newest product to cure baldness in men had to undergo some clinical studies wherein a group of males tried it while the others did not. The study was necessary to see if this hair treatment is safe and has no side effects. Furthermore, if there were no hassles, this treatment was most likely get the approval of the FDA. On the other side of the fence, the other study compared those who took a “placebo” which does not contain the ingredients of the other product.

Researchers spent years comparing this hair loss treatment and the “placebo.” Not surprisingly, these studies looked closely if the product worked in restoring hair particularly his scalp. After some time, they discovered that those who took the “placebo” experienced hair loss while those who took Propecia noticed that their hair started growing again. After a year of using the product, hair growth stopped again but the process was slower for those taking the product compared to those who took the “placebo.” The studies continued for five years and researchers have noted that forty eight percent of males had hair growth while forty two percent experienced little change. Finally, only ten percent lost their hair.

Seventy five percent of men who took the “placebo” experienced hair loss during this period and those who stopped taking the product after a year did not experience hair growth. Most of the benefits of this product show that it works on the front and middle of the head. However, it does not significantly prevent hair loss at the temples. Curiously, this product does not work for women especially when they were at the post menopausal stage. Unlike men, women who took the product and the “placebo” showed that there was no difference at all.

It is possible that the study did not involve enough females to show if the product really works. Also, it is not remote that the product does not really help women offset their hair loss. Be as it may, many researchers now know that only men will receive the benefits of this product. They have come to the conclusion that they should use this consistently to get the full results. Lastly, Propecia does work in almost half of the men involved in the study, so one might as well try to use it – that is, if he wants hair growth.
