Artist Highlights Reality of Homelessness

Homelessness has become an all too familiar sight on the streets of Dublin and a recent piece of art has sought to shine a light on it. A student from Ireland’s National College of Art and Design has created a powerful video documenting society’s reaction to homelessness. Artist Shota Kotake created a life-sized statue of a homeless lady, which was placed around different parts of Dublin and photographed. “In 2009, I made this sculpture as the end of 1st year in the college. And this was invited to The Homeless Film Festival in April 2012, Manchester, United Kingdom,” Kotake said.
