Just wanted to let you know that ripping models without the consent of the copyright holders (and then distributing them too) is 100% illegal and could land a person in jail for copyright infringement or hefty fines would be placed.

I see lots of people go on and on about trading models and how bad that is, but ripping models is just as bad, if not worse than trading.
Especially from games like Project Diva. If SEGA  (or the company that holds the copyright) has not given you express permission to rip the models, then I suggest you don't do it.

I'm sure that this message will make a lot of people mad, but I just wanted to say it before anything really bad happens. And if you think that they wouldn't be able to find all the people who do that, then think again. I'm sure you all know that with enough money, you can do almost anything.

Oh yeah, one more thing. All of the people who rip and rig models act like said models belong to them. It's enough that you already stole a model from a game, and then you are claiming it and giving it away to people? That's plagiarism in case you did not know.

So yeah, this is just a friendly warning. I'd hate to see anyone get in trouble for something that they didn't know was wrong, so I am just posting this to inform all of you.

Have a nice day~

I hate it when people say "All Models Belong To Respectful Owners"
Thats almost exactly like saying, I am done but am to lazy to credit the authors. So I don't own anything.
No, plus I am sure the owner wanted others to view and download it too, did you ever think of that?

Yeah. And then, they are too lazy to bother finding out who the creator is.

O.o
did....did i do this?

i don't act like i own the models....
i just enjoy seeing people create art with the models, there are even a few models that did'nt even make it to their final games. they were just found in the code unfinished. i'm not sure why everyone wants to rip models out of project diva though. the point of the mmd ripping community is to find models that need some more loveing and stuff that would be impossible for a newbie to make. not flooding it with hundreds of models of charecters that already exist in MMD, but somewhere down the line it has become horribly skewed.

I try to convert (not rip) models from games that are more fanart friendly and let the ones who want to keep there models secret...well.....secret.
Bethuseda's Skyrim for example has a huge modding community. I'm trying to incorporate some of that into MMD. like being able to recreate your skyrim charecter useing the parts in MMD so that you can make comics and video with it.

Well there are exceptions as I'm sure you know. Companies that have made it clear that they dislike ripping from their games (like SEGA's Project Diva) have stated that they want the ripping to stop. However in some cases, the company who owns the game characters have allowed conversion of the models so long as credit is given where credit is due. This was mainly directed at the people who rip from Project Diva (which is really prevalent in this community) and take credit for the model.
And I appreciate what you are doing. It's really good. (Honestly, I don't get the point of ripping from Project Diva when there are hundreds of other models just like them. And the models don't even look that good....)

phew thats a relief

cuz i've got litterally every 3D object from KH2 in a folder on my computer that needs to be converted...individually and then open the textures in gimp to flip them to work in MMD. and when i mean everything...I MEAN EVERYTHING! like...the dust that rafiki catches in the pridelands level....and stuff that needs to be finished. like the untextured models of Buzz and Woody that were left in the game's code.

the things you discover in the code is amazing. like...every one in KH2 that has a dress has panties!...why? no idea...we never see them in game unless the camera is just panning through someone. the details are crazy!

of course the Project Diva models won't look good in MMD, they are from a PSP game after all, and almost all PSP models are severly low poly, save for stuff like Crisis Core, and Birth By Sleep. most are just layers of texture rather then mesh.

I do have a few sega models in my gallery, mostly just from the sonic games, i never found a use for them and most people seem to overlook them too.

o.o Oh wow...I had no idea. They really go the extra mile don't they?
And yeah, I just don't get the appeal of those models. Sega and Yamaha are just mainly unhappy that people are ripping models from Vocaloid Project Diva and claiming the models as their own. I think I did see a formal statement with Sega asking them to stop, but I don't remember where.

i don't even see people useing them for real....i mean when i use skyrim dragons i go all out. people just pose these models and make them do the same stuff over and over. the skyrim dragon's i've been showcaseing recently are actually customs made from game parts, to make them drake type dragons rather then wyven types (walks on wings, no forelegs)

Yeah, people don't really put too much effort into it. It all looks very...generic. Dragons are awesome XD

I've recolored and slightly edited one of the Miku models that came with MMD (I think, it may be one I downloaded), but for the time being it's for personal use only. I'm trying to make sure I have permission to edit and redistribute a model before I do the edit and put it up for download.
