Come hear about how you can get involved in Duke’s largest cultural show, ASA’s Lunar New Year! Every year, over 15 student groups come together for a delicious dinner in the Great Hall, an amazing performance in Page Auditorium, and a great after party. For an opportunity to play a key role in putting the show together, consider joining one of the LNY committees. There are also incredible open acts that perform at LNY each year and every year, they take their performers from the general study body. ASA’s cultural chair Simon Ho will be talking about the organization of LNY.
3. LNY Committees
Get involved with ASA and become a part of LNY! Lunar New Year is ASA’s biggest event of the year and one of the biggest cultural events on campus. For an opportunity to play a key role in putting the show together, consider joining one of the LNY committees! For more information about all of this and more, visit our website:
www.duke-asa.com/lny-2013. Applications are due by 11/4 and are available there as well!
4. ASA Sponsors One-Stop Early Voting
Tuesday, October 23rd @ 9 AM – 8 PM, Old Trinity Room in West Union
Duke students, staff, and faculty have once again brought One Stop Early Voting (OSEV) stations to Duke for the upcoming November elections! OSEV sites are established 19 days before an election to allow people who won’t be able to go off campus on election day to vote prior to the election. You can also register and vote all on the same day. They will be on West Campus from October 18th to November 3rd this fall. ASA is proud to be sponsoring an OSEV day, Tuesday 10/23, and we are so excited to be encouraging all the Asian Americans on campus to GET OUT THE VOTE during this Presidential election cycle.
We’re looking for organizations to co-host and help us make sure every eligible student at Duke can exercise their civil duty. We want to show the entire Duke community the impact we can have, so we are collecting organization and individual names of those who are pledging to bring their members out or pledging to vote themselves. Show your support by filling out our brief form here:

5. UNC-Chapel Hill’s Journey Into Asia Is Seeking Performance Groups
Due October 7th
Attention to all cultural Asian performance groups! UNC-Chapel Hill’s Asian Student Association is currently looking for traditional Asian performance groups to participate in Journey Into Asia! Journey Into Asia is equivalent to Duke’s annual cultural show, Lunar New Year, and provides cultural groups the opportunity to show off their talents in front of a 400+ audience! We are hoping to get a variety of Asian countries to be represented in the show, so any cultural group, large or small, is encouraged to audition! Please send in performance videos to
awatanab@live.unc.edu by no later than October 7th. The show will be held in Memorial Hall on the UNC Campus on November 17th.
Keep calm and carry on.
Sincerely,
Your Executive Board, Asian Students Association
