Chrome plugin doesn't work with CoolNovo (ChromePlus)
Hi guys
I don't know why but 1Password isn't working with the CoolNovo
browser (was ChromePlus before). It's quite strange as all other
add-ons work correctly and also 1Password did in the past.
Could it be because it has a different version number (2.0.3.7)? Can someone reproduce it?
Thanks in advance!

Hi there,
Thanks for taking the time to write to us.
CoolNovo is not currently one of our supported browsers. It is great when one of our extensions happens to work in another browser beyond the ones we advertise, but we make no promises that it'll continue to work. We only test new releases against the browsers that we advertise compatibility with:
http://help.agilebits.com/1Password_Windows/requirements.html
There are so many variants of Chrome on the market that if we did test our extension against each of them we'd either spend our days doing nothing but testing Chrome-based browsers, or we'd have to hire a whole new team to take on that task. At the moment, neither of those options is very realistic.
Sorry I don't have a better answer for you.

As it's exactly the same as chromium - only with some add-ons - that's really pity. Because I'm quite sure that there's no reason that it shouldn't work - it's even named chrome.exe.
I understand that you can't support every browser. But all these chrome variants are compatible and it's really the only add-on that doesn't work. Even lastpass works perfectly.

Btw that's exactly the idea of the add-on-system. You should be able to use the plugins with a lot of different configurations and versions - as the API is compatible

Hi Berny,
In that case would it not be possible to simply install install those add-ons into the Chrome released by Google?
Please let me know.
Thanks.

Well there are some things which can't be added to normal chrome
unfortuntely as its extension system is much more limited as the one
of firefox for example.
I was just a bit pissed because I use a lot of extensions and all work
perfectly with CoolNovo - exept 1password which I need very often.
I'll try to contact the other developer. Maybe he can fix it. Do you
have no idea if it's because of a real incompatibility or because of a
version check (or something like that) which 1password uses?

Hey Berny,
I understand your frustration that it doesn't work and that we don't support CoolNovo, we'd love to be able to support every browser possible but that's beyond the scope of our current development.
Because of the complexity of all the data we manage, the encryption, security and primarily because of the connection between our browser extension and the actual 1Password app our extension is a lot more complicated than most. That is likely why 1Password is the only thing that doesn't work for you in CoolNovo.
To the best of my knowledge we do not use any kind of version check, it most likely is a true incompatibility issue. What is the problem you're running into? Can you not install it or does it just not work?
Also, it's a long shot but are you running the beta version of the 1Password extension? Please visit this page and make sure you check the beta option before hitting download.
I'm sorry I don't have better news, I wish would support all of the Chrome offshoots and the dozen different developer versions but there's so many different variations that we don't have the resources to develop for and support all of them.

Yeah, no problem.
I can install the extensions but it just shows a red "!" and can't connect to the database when entering my login data. Since I already use the newest beta (tried the stable version too) there's probably no possibility to solve the problem easily.
Thanks anyway for your support!
