This is an overview of the public service campaign projects the Ad Council of Rochester is currently supporting. Each project is composed of a collaboration of nonprofit organizations as well as volunteers from the marketing communications field and lead by an Ad Council team member. Clients are provided with strategy development and implementation support including research, creative development, design and production, and media placement through our local media partners. The Ad Council also offers a suite of capacity-building programs to individual nonprofit organizations to improve their marketing communications efforts with key constituents. Program Goal In 2005, this campaign was developed to help address the fact that hundreds of children are lead poisoned in Monroe County each year. A small amount of lead paint dust can cause irreversible brain damage to young children, and can have a devastating lifelong impact, starting with learning disabilities, trouble in school and problems with impulse control that can ultimately lead to real impacts on public safety. Program Goal There are few resources more precious to us than our fresh water supply. But we all recognize that in some areas, pollution is a real issue. A 2006 survey we conducted indicated 50% of area residents believe industry is the biggest polluter, when in reality, 80% of the remaining water quality impacts are from what is called nonpoint source pollution – mainly stormwater runoff. Since 1950, the Ad Council of Rochester has been the country’s only community-based service organization committed to bringing voice to community issues and needs in partnership with nonprofit organizations from all segments of the community. With the community as our client, we do this in two ways: by creating impactful public service campaigns and building capacity within the nonprofit organizations we serve. We do this with the generous support of over 30 local media outlets, 75 local businesses, and a cadre of over 375 dedicated volunteer marketing professionals. Training Events For Nonprofits Academy- Academy sessions focus on marketing and communications topics with a simple goal – to enhance your professional marketing and communications know how. There are between 8 and 10 Academy sessions throughout the year, with a dynamic mix of facilitators and topics. Academy sessions are single-topic, 2 hour sessions, with a formal presentation as well as a Q&A period.
