Offline Maps is mapping application for frequent travelers who do not want to pay outrageous data roaming fees while abroad. Free basic world OpenStreetMap (OSM) is included. You can download additional offline maps for a small fee at home or over Wifi and use maps without data connection.

Application enables:

  • view detailed online maps (free)
  • view general online map (free)
  • download and view offline map packages (paid)
  • search placenames (online, free)
  • view POI layers (online, free)

Note that with one SMS-based payment you can download 10 map packages.

Data and maps are from OpenStreetMap - the world-wide wiki map created by you.

Discussion

maps

I have downloaded the application and it seems to work OK, but no maps. Where do I go to download maps?

The application has some

The application has some premium features, like preloading map packages for offline use. The application uses sending and receiving SMS to make payment (about 2$, depending on country) for the download. The payment works in about 40 countries, and in other countries you can use free features, like view OpenStreetMap maps, search, and view POI overlays.

Permissions

Hello, please can you tell me please why you take permission to access to received SMS and why you take permission to send SMS?
