PURPOSE: To prepare a fish paste product resembling crab leg meat in texture, and having excellent palatability, etc. at a low cost, by slitting a continuous web of fish paste product longitudinally in strips, packaging with a reverse- pillow-type automatic packaging machine, and cutting the product to a definite length.

CONSTITUTION: A continuous web of a fish paste product 1 is slitted to parallel strips by the feed rolls 2a, 2b having a number of parallel grooves at the circumferences, and introduced into a reverse-pillow type automatic packaging machine. In the former zone of the packaging machine, the packaging film 5 is inserted under the moving fish paste product, and the film is bent gradually according to the progress through the machine to wrap the fish paste product. Both sides of t he film 5 lifted vertically are clamped with a pair of nip rolls 9a, 9b on th former, pulled up to collect the strips of the fish paste product, and sealed with the sealing apparatuses 10a, 10b. The product is cut to a definite length to obtain the objective fish paste product resembling crab leg meat.
