Seems to be a lot safer and less addictive then the xanax I was on for 3 years, sometimes I will take it to refall asleep if I wake up at 1 or 2am so I stay asleep until 6-8am.

Lately I have had to use it less for just going to sleep as the xanax withdrawl has subsided.
I had three of my doctors for three different medical problems say it was ok to use for now.

Chosen Answer:

Yes it’s safe to use this way especially for the Xanax withdrawal.

Since about 7-8th grade I’ve never been able to sleep properly. The only time I sleep normally is if I stay up the previous night, such as tonight. I’ll lay in bed for several hours and finally fall asleep around 4-5 AM. I’ve tried changing the way I sleep by going to bed earlier, but it never lasts because I just can’t sleep. The longest it has lasted is about a month. Is it possible I have a sleep disorder? Should I see a doctor?

Thank you in advance.

Chosen Answer:

Maybe! I have that problem too!

I use Ambien as needed, not everyday but Ive noticed my memory seems to be getting worse. I cant remember the day before sometimes and blocks of times are gone I just cannot remember anything. I have to use some sleep aid due to my insomnia but I am wondering if my memory is fading as a side effect. I am only 44 and have no head injuries.

Chosen Answer:

I tried Lunesta in times past, and awoke with a vulgar taste in my mouth, and that was a step up, which was Xanax.

At a certain point, I realized I had done things and said things while on xanax, that I could not remember, and also felt I needed it, and it was becoming an addiction.

I started looking at all natural therapies for sleep aids, and when once I was competitive athlete, had gained twenty pounds, when a friend told me about Stemulite. There is a daytime and a nightime formula, which is all natural.

I started taking the Stemulite, and was able to wean myself off both medications, and sleep really soundly, and when I woke up I felt good, not groggy or medicated.

It was a relief for me to find an all natural product that finally worked.

I realized that melatonin was in the nighttime formula, so I decided to just take melatonin because it was less expensive, and didn’t get the same sleep I gained with Stemulite, so I went back to Stemulite.

well, if you have seen bedtime stories a guy in it has sleep panic disorder. I was wondering what it is, and if it is even real?? He wakes up, well i think he is sleeping, but he sits up and screams. I have been curious what it is ever since i ave seen the movie. If you could tell me what it is, that would be great.

Chosen Answer:

My friend has it. He has choking dreams. He wakes up and runs to the bathroom. He looks down his throat in the mirror to see if their is anything there. He says the dream is very realistic and he thinks he is choking every time. I gave you a source so I hope it helps.

Chosen Answer:

Not that I am aware.

Sleep disorders including insomnia and apnea are very complex conditions that are associated with more than a single chemical reaction.

Ok, so over the last year I’ve had some unsual dream experiences, and I want to figure out what it is. basically,its like Im sleeping walking.. or.. sleep.. moving.. or w/e.. in my sleep. but Im conscious enough to remember it the next day, but at the time I am still dreaming. Even though I see everything in my room clearly. For example, I’ve woken up remembering having full on conversations with shadows.. or.. people that.. as I become more cosncious dissolve into shadows. Or the other night I woke up to find a bird fluttering its wings in my bed. and I was asleep and just sat up staring at this bird I can barely see in the dark.. and then go bck to sleep and remember it the next day.. So.. help please, I really want to look up on whatever this is, but since I dont know what it is I cant look it up. thanks :)

Chosen Answer:

This might sound a little strange, but my husband had some of these same experiences.

He has since been diagnosed with sleep apnea, and since he began using his cpap, his “nightmares” or whatever you want to call them have stopped.

Can’t say for sure that that is your problem as well, but it might be worth mentioning to your doctor.

Hope this helps!

I know these are supposed to be sedatives, so I’m just wondering how people get addicted (if they do). Are there side effects?

Chosen Answer:

The people who get addicted to Zolpidem are those who fight the sedative effects of the drug and thus manage to experience euphoria. Some side effects are as follows:

* impaired reasoning and judgment
* delusions
* uninhibition in interpersonal or social settings
* hallucinations
* heightened impulsivity
* poor motor coordination
* decreased libido
* when intake is stopped, rebound insomnia is likely to occur
* loss of memory for events immediately following a trauma
* intensified appetite

When taken for long periods of time, the use of Ambien or Zolpidem may also lead to dependence.

Im 13 and i usually get about 7-9 hours of sleep a night. When I wake up I feel more tired than when I fell asleep the previous night. At school by about 2:00 (in L.A. then math) i literally cannot keep my eyes open. What do i do to keep myself from feeling so tired all the time? Do i have a sleep disorder? i hope not…thanks!

Chosen Answer:

no being tired is not a sleep disorder

your sleep cycles could be a little different…like you could be getting more of the first couple stages where you are lightly asleep rather than in stage 5 where you are comletely asleep

or your hours are not stable…say you get 9 and then the next you get 7 now you have to catch up those past two hours and if you don’t then you are tired

The hours build up until you sleep that long

Oh i wouldn’t advise you to make up your sleep time on the weekends that just irregulates your schedule more

Don’t really understand the difference,aren’t they both tranqs,prone to tolerance and withdrawals, and act upon the same receptors…so what’s the benefit of using a zdrug over a benzo
Thx Frank! ^^
But what about the receptors they act upon and the effects on these receptors,are they different,Is this why Ambien will have better effects on sleep structure and quality?

Chosen Answer:

Their effects are similar. The primary difference is that benzos make your sleep worse while z drugs do so less or not at all.

Just because you’re unconscious doesn’t mean that you’re getting good quality sleep. Alcohol and benzos each will decrease the quality of your sleep.

  • What is Ambien (Zolpidem)?

    Ambien is a sedative, also called a hypnotic. It affects chemicals in your brain that may become unbalanced and cause sleep problems (insomnia).

    Ambien is used for the short-term treatment of insomnia (difficulty falling or staying asleep). This medication causes relaxation to help you fall asleep.
