Some Precautions before Taking Levitra
Having the generic name of Vardenafil, Levitra
has been known to be an effective drug in treating and reducing
the severe symptoms of sexual impotence in men. The manifestation
of male sexual impotence that this drug aims to treat is the erectile
dysfunction or ED. Before the introduction of the first ED treatment
drug into the world market, men who suffer from sexual impotence
of this nature have been tolerating this disability. However, modern
science has provided mankind with an effective solution to satisfy
one’s sexual desires. This drug, coupled with Cialis and Viagra
have been the three Food and Drugs Authority-approved drugs that
effectively treats erectile dysfunction.
Levitra is essentially a prescription oral drug
in the form of a round orange tablet. It comes in the following
dosage: 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg, and 20mg. Primarily sold in the international
market by Bayer, this drug has given countless men with another
shot at sexual happiness. Being a PDE5 inhibitor, what this drug
basically does is to increase the blood flow to the penis. This
increase in blood flow will aid in making the penis hard and erect
for the duration of the sexual intercourse.
Normally, this hardening effect can last for a few hours. However,
if the erection lasts longer than 4 hours, it is advisable to contact
one’s doctor as a prolonged erection might damage one’s penis. There
have been many misconceptions about this drug. Taking a dose of
this drug will not automatically arouse one’s sexual desire. This
drug is not an aphrodisiac as many would like to think. For one
to feel the effects of this drug, a sexual stimulus is still needed.
Once there has been a sexual arousal, the drug will take effect
and will facilitate the blood flow into the penis and make it erect
and hard.
However, just like most drugs, there are some precautions before
taking Levitra. A common precaution is for people
with weak hearts. Taking a dose of this drug may lead to a drop
in blood pressure. For those that are suffering from heart ailments,
it is advisable to refrain from taking this drug or even engaging
in sexual activity as this may cause further strain on one’s heart.
A cardiac arrest is likely to occur. Another precaution is taking
this drug together with another drug. Please do not take this drug
together with medications that have nitrates as this may even further
lower one’s blood pressure.
Aside from heart ailments, here are also some of the precautions before
taking this drug. Please avoid taking this drug if one is experiencing
seizures, has a liver disease, has hemophilia, has a stomach ulcer,
has a kidney disease, has a physical deformity of the penis, has a
hearing problem and if one has a eye disorder. This drug has been
documented to have caused some vision loss due to the decrease in
blood flow to the optic nerve of those that have also heart problems.
While it is not 100% sure if the drug caused the vision loss it is
still prudent to avoid using this drug if one has these aforementioned
illnesses. |
