Treatment and Dose of Cialis
One of the best treatments used for erectile dysfunction is Cialis. Also known as Tadalafil, it is a type of medication which is also used in pulmonary arterial hypertension. On November 21 of 2003, FDA has approved the release of the drug and several other countries have also allowed its use. Its mechanism of action is that it has an effect in sexual stimulation. Namely, the drug increases the penile blood which flows during relaxation of the pelvic arteries and the smooth muscles. This is due to the release of a certain compound, Nitric Oxide, to the nerve terminals. The compound has a certain effect in the endothelial cells and has a capacity to stimulate the creation of a hormone found in the smooth muscle cells. GMP actually relaxes the muscles and it has an effect in increasing the blood flow in the penile area.
How Cialis affects the body
Once the drug is ingested, it releases a chemical which then enhances erectile function. The catch with the drug is that Tadalafil can only be activated during sexual stimulation. This means that if there is no stimulation in the penile area then there will be no effect in erection, so sexual stimulation is strictly required in order for the drug to release nitric oxide. The prescribed dose for men is around 10 mg. Tadalafil is taken when needed right before any sexual intercourse. In some cases, the dose can actually be increased depending on the case of the patient. Some patients might have high tolerance for the drug and they might need a higher dose in order to cause erectile function. The dose may be increased at around 20 mg or it might be decreased at 5 mg depending on the order of the doctor.
In order to avoid any negative effects, men who are using the drug should strictly practice the program advised by the doctor. Tadalafil should not be taken with any alcohol and should not be taken when blood pressure is high. In patients will pulmonary hypertension, the pulmonary vascular lumen is actually decreased due to the results of the drug. The drug increases pulmonary artery vasodilation thereby lowering pulmonary pressure and pulmonary resistance. Because of the lowered arterial pressure patients will no longer suffer from right heart failure.
Tadalafil interactions
One of the interactions of the drug is initially lowered blood pressure. Hypotension occurs due to the constant use of the drug. Hence it is important to discontinue the use of any organic nitrates for at least 2 days or 48 hours when using the drug. Using any other nitrates and any other inhibitors can result to severe hypotension which can be fatal in nature.
Another counteraction with the Cialis is the use of any glyceryl sprays which are used to relieve angina during 48 hours upon the use of the drug. Patients who have used the drug during that timeframe should report any unusual chest pains or any other pain. Seek medical attention as soon as possible. |
