Talking SimpleRoot (super simple root for your Acer Iconia Tab A200)

    Hello All,

Some of you might know that we have been working away on getting a true root access to our A200 tabs.
So now the wait for the masses is over! Follow these simple instructions and you will be king of your tab in no time!

--EDIT!-- 03/12/2012 version 3 is up! now includes superuser.apk install! works on all current releases of ICS!

I tested this with the OFFICIAL UNITED STATES ICS RELEASE. although I have not tested this with the leaked version I have been told that it works. Also because of how this works I'm fairly confident that this would work with other countries versions of ICS, however i only have my tab so again untested...

    1. on your A200 open the settings and go to the Developer Options. Enable USB debugging.

    2. Download this and then extract the folder. update see below!

    3. Download the drivers for your Tab from Acer @ http://global-download.acer.com/GDFi...C=Acer&SC=PA_6 .Open the zip file you downloaded and run the setup.exe and follow the directions.Once all drivers have installed you are ready to move on to next step.

    4. Connect your A200 to your Windows based PC.

    5. Open the Acer A200 SimpleRoot folder and double click on the simple.bat (Make sure that your Tab is awake after plugging it in.)

    6. Once you do this on your A200 will reboot and then you will see two icons on the screen. You use the volume rocker to make your choice and confirm. First you will use the left or volume down to select your choice and then you will use the right or volume up to confirm. You want to select the unlocked lock and then confirm. If you wait more than a couple of seconds the A200 will time out and then you will need to start over by closing the simple.bat window and then powering down and back up. After that you would start the simple.bat over

    7. after selecting the unlocked lock and confirming with the volume up key return back to the simple.bat and press any key to continue.

    8. Enjoy knowing the man can't hold you down!

SO there are some thanks that must be givin. first to Saurik over at https://github.com/saurik/mempodroid for the mempodroid contributions, next would have to be Roy Keene over at Rooting the Toshiba Thrive for his work on his blog.
And then there are a couple of local guys, Hexmare for cracking it all open and OldHacker for his personal help with his Linux knowledge and his generosity to share it a stranger.

Please be careful and read all instructions first! I am not responsible if things don't right for you!

if this works for you could you leave some feed back or how about a like? Thanks!

WOW, everything works like a charm too, great work! It did take a few times to get prompted for SU in Root Explorer, but it finally did and took. Titanium prompted me the first time I opened it. Man, when I saw this I about cried, Wayne's World "We're not worthy" comes to mind lol

[I guess I could do a write up for linux but most people using linux don't need that much help. What do you think?

I tested this with the official US ICS release.

    1. on your A200 open the settings and go to the Developer Options. Enable USB debugging.

    2. Download this https://rapidshare.com/files/2810401...SimpleRoot.zip , and then extract the folder.

    3. Connect your A200 to your Windows based PC. Once all drivers have installed you are ready to move on to next step.

    4. Open the Acer A200 SimpleRoot folder and double click on the simple.bat

    7. Wait for things to finish up and then go to android market and download superuser.
