An ad appeared in New York's Times Square on Wednesday urging Japan to apologize for forcing Asian women to serve as sex slaves for its troops during World War II.

The ad, with the slogan "Do You Remember?" shows former German chancellor Willy Brandt kneeling in apology in front of a monument for the Jewish ghetto in Warsaw during his 1970 visit to Poland. It seeks similar contrition from Tokyo.

The ad, created by singer Kim Jang-hoon and Prof. Seo Kyoung-duk of Sungshin Women's University, will appear in Times Square until late December.
