The term “penis enlargement” refers to any number of techniques and procedures that have been developed over the years. While these techniques and procedures can be very different one from another, they all have the same goal, and that is making the penis larger, longer and thicker. Some attempt to accomplish this by using various devices, while others rely on exercise, supplements, or even surgical procedures. Let’s take a closer look at some of the more popular penis enlargement approaches.
Since about 50% of the human penis is actually inside the body, a number of surgical procedures attempt to take advantage of this fact to make the visible part of the penis longer. One approach relies on releasing the ligaments that connect the penile tissue to the pubic bone. Once these ligaments are cut, a portion of the penis shaft moves forward and extends. This penis enlargement procedure can result in length gains of up to one and a half inch. The length gain is permanent, but the procedure does require some additional work and maintenance – the patient should perform stretching exercises to prevent the ligaments to shorten during the post-operative healing period.
A more extreme surgical penis enlargement procedure requires removing and replacing the pair of spongy tissue organs called corpora cavernosum. These tissue bodies play an important role in the process of penile erection, since they absorb a large quantity of blood, making the penis engorged. During the procedure, the corpora cavernosum are replaced with inflatable implants. This procedure is often performed on men who are completely unable to establish or maintain an erection.
While surgical penis enlargement procedures are fairly effective, they are not a very popular option ad are used only when all other options are exhausted. Surgical penis enlargement is a major procedure, and as such carries a risk of complications. Additionally, the post-operative period is often painful, and the cost of the procedures is not covered by most medical insurance.
There’s also a whole range of less drastic, but often effective alternative to surgical penis enlargement procedures. These non invasive penis enlargement techniques often rely on mechanical pumps, penis clamps or penis stretchers.
Penis pumps are one of the most popular non invasive penis enlargement device types. They rely on a pump which is used to remove all air from a tube which is mounted over the penis. This creates a vacuum in the tube, which makes the blood vessels in the penis to become filled with blood – effectively creating an erection.
Penis clamping is a penis enlargement technique that uses a device which prevents the blood from flowing out of the penis – usually an elastic band or a penis ring. Once the erection has been achieved, the device is placed at the base of the shaft – enabling the user to hold on to an erection for longer than previously possible.
Stretching is one of the most popular penis enlargement methods. It involves attaching a device which applies constant pressure or traction to the penis. Over a certain time period (usually months) the body should adopt to the pressure by causing tissue growth in the penile area.
