Well, for starters, remember you are self-employed here. This is a business and it is up to YOU to make it work. The opportunities are there. Think about it, how many places can you work and earn based on your own effort and to come and go as you please. The beginning is tough as there is much training to do and it is a steep learning curve. This company is highly regulated by government as...

IG have simply adopted the Realtor model for paper based investments rather than Real assets.

I can understand why people think IG is a bullshit company to work for. I do agree with the fact that they hire anyone they definately need to change that because its giving them a bad name. However, I've been with IG for 2 years now I was previously working for a bank and I do not regret the decision I made for a second its been amazing for me. Its a tough role and it is very difficult to...

Have you ever noticed how Investors Group is constantly looking for employees? It's because they are a horrible company to work for!

They will lure you in with promises of high commissions and unlimited potential, but don't believe it!! Not only will you not make an income, but it will actually cost you money to be involved with them. They will demand that you leech money from your friends...

They will take on just about anyone. It's commission-only, with no benefits, and you have to pay THEM $500/month to work for them. Huge annual turnover - most of the marks leave quickly after they've tapped out their relatives and friends.

Not upfront about fees

NO attention paid to you after 6 months

Encourage to take out a Line of Credit

Encourage to spend, spend, spend

Encourage clients to leverage (borrowing to invest)

Division Diretors or BONUSED on how many hires they get, so they will hire ANYONE.

When I was told the average salary was $100,000 they neglected to mention those were people who have been there for 15+...

Investors Group is a great company to be affiliated with. In my first few years they really took a lot of time to help me learn what being an entrepreneur is all about, and the risk/reward pay off of controlling your own business. This is not the place for lazy or complacent advisors. You need to have a drive to succeed and really truly be a self starter. I can say after 5 years that I am so...

This company is one step above primerica and not by much, I would not recommend this job to my worst enemy. If you are young and just starting off your working career working for this company will put you in debt and lock your friends and families money into crap mutual funds for 7 years. You've been warned.

Investors Group's main focus is to SELL. IG rates their financial advisors' performance based on how much money they/their clients contribute to the organization - not on how well they manage that money for the client. Think twice before you trust these used cars sales people with your hard earned money.

Got nothing more than a high-school diploma? Lack intelligence? Need a job? Don't want to flip burgers? Join IG. Montreal-area staff is the worst you can imagine. Trust me - go to a bank and work for people who will pay you and who will train you. If no one else but IG will hire you, you should not be in financial services - it means you don't have what it takes. Take the hint.

Virtually everyone who has gotten into mutual fund sales in the last decade has starved in short order (hence the constant recruiting by rackets like IG). The stock market has been in the toilet for over ten years now, and most mutual fund investors haven't made a dime during that period. The public is fed up with mutual funds, and who can blame them?

It's only going to get worse. The baby...

I use to work for IG for 3 years, so here are some facts about IG...you can make your opinion about the company based on this.

• They will tell you the average salary is $100,000 (....). Then they will ask you “do you consider yourself average?” Making you think you’ll earn more than that. What they don’t tell you is that the people making $100,000+ a year are the ones who were given clients...

I struggled for a year with IG as a consultant. What bothered me is that during the interview, I grilled them about expenses and cost to me but they beat around the bush. I wish I knew exactly what I was up for when I signed up, at least to go in with eyes wide open.

It's a good business model, and can either reward generously or put you in deep debt. The key is knowing if you're cut out...

IG is a joke! I worked there for 6 months as a consultant and caught on to their crap early, but not before they made a bundle off me...I actually lost money in the 6 months I was there. After I quit, they still sent me bills for 'fees'. I paid those bastards every month I was there and they had the nerve to send me a bill for $60, months after I left.

I was fully licensed already when i...

For all of those who complain, maybe you need to look at everything again. You pay your own expenses, but you have freedom to work the way that best suits you. When I worked at the banks, I had to follow their schedules, not my own. They are the bosses. Here, I am the boss. It is my business to grow. For those who do not make it, it is because they didn't work hard enough at it. I have just...

I agree with the last person. This company is about begin a self starter and ambitious. Its not a job but a way of life. the work is important and satisfying. The company is caring and senior management listen . if you are looking for an easy route to make above average income- this isn't for you. but if you have focus and are willing to put in the effort; this is a model that is tremendous.

I don't know what those other "raters" are talking about, I find it it pretty easy to make a lot of money. Yes you pay all of your expenses, but your write them all of (in lieu of income tax) and YOU WORK FOR YOURSELF...I take 3 months holiday every month and make over $150K per year. Anybody that complains is somebody that couldn't do, was lazy or didnt try. If it was easy, everybody would...

They expect you to pay for everything on your own. You'll end up spending a good $3000 at least for the CFP, LLQP, and other designations. You also have to pay for their equipments/programs as well. Then you got to take the trainer with you to 30 people that you can find who might be interested in listening. The atmosphere is creepy and uncomfortable. They tell you that you can work from home...
