Best way to treat anxiety disorders?

A lot of people today struggle with anxiety disorders, panic attacks and related issues on daily bases. If you are one of them, you are well aware just how taxing and exhausting it can be to endure abnormal levels of anxiety day in and day out, without any understandable reason or explanation. Some people find that the feelings of fear and dread that often come with anxiety disorders make it almost impossible for them to enjoy all the activities they’ve looked forward to in the past, or even function properly and take care of their obligations. Some would rather spend all day in bed, safe and shielded from the outside world than have to deal with the stress and anxiety. It’s not uncommon for people who don’t get treated in time to develop even more serious psychological issues, and a host of other neuroses and depression can quickly develop from anxiety. In some cases, the anxiety and panic attacks experienced by the affected individuals can be so extreme and severe that the person literally loses control of their body. Fortunately, there are proven and effective ways of dealing with this issue, and one of the more common ones is Valium. Some people don’t really have enough information about Valium and other benzodiazepines that are available for the treatment of the condition, and think that the medications can have unwanted side effects or even lead to the development of an addiction. While it is true that most prescription drugs – benzodiazepines included – do have some side effects and can be abused, they have been on the market for forty years for a reason. Generally speaking, when used responsibly and according to the doctor’s instructions, Valium and other benzodiazepines are quite safe.

All benzodiazepines achieve their sedating and relaxing effects by creating an increase in the production of an important neurochemicals in the brain.  This chemical, called GABA (short for gamma-Aminobutyric acid) is actually an amino acid. The human body produces Gamma aminobutyric acid naturally, on its own, and it’s very important for the normal functioning of a healthy human organism. It’s main purpose and role is to slow down the brain activity levels, thus countering the effects of other neurochemicals and hormones, like adrenalin and serotonin). However, in some cases, and for various reasons, the body will stop making enough Gamma aminobutyric acid, which often leads to the development of an anxiety disorder. Valium can counter that by restoring the lost neurochemical balance, thus reducing or completely removing some of the worst symptoms of the disorder.

We mentioned that there are some alternatives to Valium. Some non pharmaceutical and over the counter products claim to be able to produce much of the same effects as Valium. Though much of these “natural herbal Valium alternatives” are  not tested enough, it’s worth to explore the option. One of the newest anti anxiety supplements is called Kava, or Piper methysticum. Kava is believed by some to provide much of the same effects like Valium, and it’s sometimes used to treat less severe problems, like insomnia. Just keep in mind that it may not be effective as the real Valium.
