DCI: DCI Number FAQ

Answer ID 2153
How do I get a DCI number?
Just go to a local Wizards Play Network (WPN) store and ask! The membership applications are provided at no charge, and you do not need to play in an event to obtain one. To find a WPN store near you, do a search for your city in our Event Locator. Note that we no longer distribute D&D/RPGA-specific numbers.

I've fogotten / lost my membership number - how can I find my number?
WPN Organizers using Wizards Event Reporter can help you find your membership number.

If your WPN store isn't able to locate your DCI number, please click here to send us a request for assistance. Please provide as as much information as you can, including current home address, prior home address, prior email addresses you may have provided us, and the location and approximate date of the last event you played in.

My DCI / RPGA number has less than 10 digits. Can I still use this number?
Since we started distributing DCI and RPGA nubmers, the number of digits in these numbers has continued to increase. Numbers issued with fewer than 10 digits have been converted to a 10-digit number. If you have a membership number with less than 10 digits, Wizards Event Reporter software will convert that number to the correct 10-digit number. All DCI and RPGA numbers issued, regardless of length, are valid in both Magic and D&D events.

NOTE: Any unissued 9-digit RPGA membership applications will no longer work and should be discarded.

I have a DCI card, but not an activation code - how do I get one?
Activation codes are a relatively new innovation for the DCI - many members have cards that don’t have activation codes associated with them. The activation code is just a way to receive your initial password. Even if you never use the activation code, you can still play in tournaments, and you will be rated and ranked as usual.

If you have a DCI card that did not include or is missing an activation code, or if your activation code doesn't work, you can retrieve your password by sending us an email message, using the E-mail Us Tab page. Please include as much of the following information as possible with your request: your specific request, your DCI number, full name, address, date of birth (MM/DD/YYYY), and the name of the store where you played your last event. We'll send a new password to you as soon as we'll able to confirm your identity.

How do I change my DCI password?
You can change your DCI password in the DCI Personal Information Center. Go to the Membership Login Page Log in, click "Personal Information Center" (if sent to the judge Center) your password by going to the clicking here.

If you are unable to reset your password (possibly because we do not have your e-mail address on file), please send us an email be clicking the "Email Us" tab at the top of the page. Please provide us you name, DCI number, current email address, any previous email addresses we may have on file, your date of birth on file and home address. If the information provided is sufficient and accurate, we'll send a new password to your current email address.

How do I change my home address / email information?
Go to the Membership Login Page Log in, click "Personal Information Center" (if sent to the judge Center). Click "Personal Info" in the 'My Links' box. You will be asked to verify your date of birth to access the Personal Information page; once verified, you will be allowed to change your home and email addresses and phone number. Note that you cannot change your name with this form (although the form suggests otherwise).

I have (or believe I have) multiple DCI numbers. Can I have those numbers combined?
We'd be very happy to take care of that. Please complete the DCI Number Combine Form. The combine process may take up to six weeks to complete. Meanwhile, continue to participate in any Wizards events using your preferred DCI number.
