Peter Barakan joins InterFM as Executive Director
Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo - September 14, 2012 -
Tokyo's No.1 Music Station, InterFM (FM Inter-Wave, Inc., CEO Naoya Kinoshita, 76.1 MHz in Tokyo, 76.5 MHz in Yokohama) today announced that Peter Barakan assumed the role of Executive Director, effective September 14, 2012.
I'm sure this announcement will come as a surprise to many people. Be assured that I was equally surprised when I was asked to take on the post of Executive Director at InterFM. I have accepted the offer, albeit with some trepidation, having been a freelance broadcaster for many years, and having no prior experience of making decisions for anyone other than myself.
My main responsibility will be programming. Don't expect any immediate changes, as things take time to put into place, but I am already involved in day-to-day operations, and will be working with the whole InterFM team to realise my vision of what a radio station should sound like.
I shall also be continuing with all my current commitments on both radio and TV, of course including my show on InterFM, Barakan Beat, which from October will move to a new Sunday afternoon slot of 3-6 pm.
I have always valued the input we get from non-Japanese listeners, and look forward to hearing from you what you like (and don't like) about the station, and your hopes and expectations for the future.
Cheers
Peter Barakan
