I did not know there was even a such thing as a sloth bear. He's really cute! I hope he's okay out in the wild… If they can be dangerous I can see why the government put him back out there, but there is not a whole lot sadder than losing a beloved pet :(

There has been a long campaign in India to end the practice of taming sloth bears. While taking the bear in question away seems bureaucratic it makes more sense when you about India's history of dancing sloth bears. Sidenote: although they are insectivores, there have been hundreds of sloth bear maulings and dozens of deaths. I do feel unhappy for this particular bear being removed from this family, though.

Maybe the bear didn't like the wild, which is why he forcibly domesticated himself. Besides, he's clearly friendly, so it's not like he posed a danger to his adoptive family and their village. If the bear's happy, who gives a flying fuck?
