Let’s first discuss what exactly is counting cards. Many people have the misconception that counting cards in online Blackjack will let you predict what card will come next. This is somewhat true, but also far from the truth. While counting cards does not let you predict what cards will come in the future like a physic, it does give a good idea of what cards are left in the deck. You will never be able to tell exactly what cards are left, but it will give a good idea if the deck contains more high or low cards.
In online Blackjack, you want to be dealt more high cards since these will give you better hands which to beat the dealer. Being able to determine when the deck contains more of these precious high cards, you can alter your bet sizing to take advantage of this. You will also be able to lower your bet sizes when the deck is less advantageous and contains more low cards. Since getting dealt low cards will give you hands like 16 and 14, you want to lose the minimum amount possible.
Another myth about card counting in Online Blackjack is that is illegal. There are no laws that state you cannot count cards in a live or online casino. This isn’t to say that you can sit there and count out numbers in your head and let everyone at the table know what you are doing. Card Counting is frowned upon by most casinos, and they can ask you to leave if they suspect it, but you will never be arrested or get in any legal troubles.
The bad stuff happens when people use teams and get greedy. The casinos will spot this and bar you from ever playing there again. Your names will be put on a blacklist and be handed out to most casinos to let them know you are a card counter. You will still face no legal ramifications, but entering the front doors of a casino will be more difficult than entering Fort Knox.
This is why playing online blackjack is preferable. You can actually sit there and count out loud since no one will hear you, except for your dog or wife. The ability to easily count cards in online Blackjack makes playing online that much better.
