Lytron recently published a new application note entitled, “Temperature Control for Recirculating Chillers.” The application note describes the benefits of the Proportional–Integral–Derivative (PID) auto-tune function, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s), proper placement of temperature sensors, and more. AS9100 Certification
Lytron recently announced that its Woburn, Massachusetts facility achieved AS9100 certification. AS9100 is a quality standard for companies that design, develop, or produce military and commercial aerospace products. Lytron’s AS9100 certification is a dual certification, meeting all of the requirements of ISO 9001:2008 as well as requirements specific to aerospace product safety and reliability. Prior to receiving AS9100 certification, Lytron’s Woburn facility had been ISO 9001 certified for 16 years.
Lytron's New Catalog
Lytron recently published its new Total Thermal Solutions™ catalog. The catalog contains detailed information on Lytron’s recently expanded custom design and manufacturing capabilities, as well as contains specifications and performance graphs for standard chillers, cooling systems, cold plates, and heat exchangers. Kodiak Recirculating Chillers
Lytron announced today the launch of two new Kodiak® recirculating chillers. The Kodiak RC095 and RC115 provide up to 9.6 kW (32.7 kBTU/hr) and 11 kW (37.5 kBTU/hr) of cooling capacity, respectively. The chillers are able to maintain ±0.1°C (0.2°F) temperature stability, are CE certified and MET tested to UL 1995, and have a 2-year warranty. Customers can choose from three electrical configurations, three pumps, seven controller packages, and 11 other available options in order to meet their applications’ specific requirements. Lytron's New Chiller Manufacturing Line
At the end of April, the Lytron Affinity Thermal Systems factory in New Hampshire will begin manufacturing on a new production line. This new production line will improve quality and reduce lead times for chillers. The new line consolidates the entire value stream, including material storage, manufacturing, leak testing, charging, testing, and packaging into one continuous flow. Lytron’s chiller technicians will have materials stored at Point of Use (POU). Principles of single piece flow and standardized work are being used to improve repeatability and reproducibility. In addition, the new line has a complete conveyor system, consisting of conveyors, in-line lift tables, computers, and pneumatic tools at each work station. The improved transport of the chiller through the manufacturing process down a controlled conveyor will improve flow and throughput and decrease the chance of in-process handling damage. Lastly, the addition of a new AccuFill refrigerant charging station provides the ability to critically charge systems in-line and improve charging accuracy. Lytron was recently awarded two patents for a high performance cold plate cooling device and its manufacturing method. The patents, United States Patents 8087452 and 8047044, are for a cold plate comprised of multiple, relatively thin plates, each having patterns formed on them that, when arranged in the cold plate, cause turbulence in the fluid. Manufacturing of the cooling device includes stacking the plates in an alternating fashion so that the fluid flow channels within the pattern of each plate are crosswise with respect to the channels in the pattern of an adjacent plate. Such an arrangement provides a generally up-and-down flow path and introduces turbulence into a liquid that is flowing through the device, ultimately improving thermal performance.
