Volunteers
We have such great volunteers here at HeartStrings! Peg just sent me a couple photos of a quilt she just finished. She wrote,
My name is Peg Jones and I just finished quilting and binding one of the Heartstrings quilt. I’ve attached a couple photos for you. It was fun to have a quilt to just play on. I’d be happy to do more. A friend has recently started a project to donate quilts to a local women’s/children’s shelter so that is where this quilt will go. We are actually having a sew day next week and will be working on some string quilts.
Didn’t she do a wonderful job?
Log Cabin Quilts
Are you ready to use your leftover strips and strings in another way? One of my favorites is a Strips and Strings Log Cabin. You can find instructions at the link above and here’s a version pieced by JulieC
Watermelon Summer
Isn’t that a great name for Beth’s quilt? There’s still time this summer for you to make a set of blocks. Won’t you join in?
Upcoming Sew-in
August 11 is our next WI/MN Sew-in at Roberts, WI. We’ll start at 8:30ish and work until 3:00 or so. Bring your sewing equipment, a dish to share and come to enjoy the day. We always have a great time and get a lot done. This is a very productive group. Our emphasis this time will be on quilts for children of all ages for our local Holiday Angels group to present to those children this coming Christmas

Pink and Blue
More challenge quilts from Australia. The pink was made by Julie and the blue by Stephanie. Won’t you join us and make a set of blocks? Details can be found here
The Aussies have been busy
Stephanie shared these two tops ready for binding … The blue/green one was made by her and the one on the bottom by Julie.
And she’s got block sets too. The first two are pieced by Stephanie and the third set with the red centers are Marlene’s first HeartStrings blocks.
You can see we’re having lots of fun with our 2012 Block Challenge. You can find the details for joining in here.
Here’s a fun string quilt
Finished by MaryH and she writes:
This one is made of string blocks that a member gave to be finished by someone (ME!). I have no idea how it was supposed to look, but this is how it turned out! I don’t know the name of the block or pattern, but it was fun to finish and is backed with a lovely dark purple flannel. It will make a nice warm quilt for a child.
It will given to local charities here in Spokane through our WSQ quilt guild Mountain of Quilts.
