Sexual Slavery and the Asian Holocaust: A Seminar on the Comfort Women Issue in East Asia
March 30th , 4:30p.m. at Moot Court (rm 100) of Law Building (3644 peel).
During WWII, the Japanese military forced or deceived more than 300,000 women from all across Asia into sexual slavery; the victims are known as “Comfort Women”. Survivors of this serious war crime are demanding justice to this day, without receiving a formal apology or compensations from the Japanese government in denial. Come learn more about this issue from two McGill Professors, Brian Bergstrom and Adrienne Hurley. Admission by donation. There will also be a silent auction. All proceeds will go to Shimtuh, a shelter for sexual slavery survivors in Korea.
