Treatment options for your acne

Saying that everyone hates acne is as obvious a statement as is “everyone prefers chocolate to stale bread”. Nevertheless, acne is the most common of all skin diseases, because, in essence, it is a disease. It could be caused by anything from bacteria to stress and it can affect various parts of the body. Mostly we are talking about facial acne, but acne can also appear on the back and the chest, even arms and neck. Even worse, acne is a persistent condition that can last a lifetime in many people. In fact, only a bit under half of all people suffer from some form of acne their entire lives. This doesn’t have to be anything major, but just periodic breakouts. Still, none of this makes it any easier to endure this pesky condition.

The good news is, even if you have had acne since your teens, this is a condition that can be fully treated and in various ways. There are many methods for treating acne, from skin care, to dermabrasion, laser treatments and tinctures, crèmes and chemical peels – you name it. Most of these methods will provide you with at least some sort of an improvement, and some of them will probably cure your acne forever. Anyhow, it is worth a try.

But before you can start treating your acne, it is essential you visit a dermatologist, the specialist who will tell you all you need to know about your condition and give you the specifics on your treatment.

And then there are all the ways you can treat your acne. One of them is dermabrasion, a special procedure that takes off the dead skin from your face and molds the skin in the way that covers and cures your existing scars. It will certainly make your skin appear smoother and more radiant.

Chemical peel is also a good method, and is not as invasive. It is a procedure reserved for facial treatment, for the most part, but can also be applied to your hands and your neck, should the need arise. Chemical peels can vary from light to deep ones, and are used to eliminate scars and blemish, even smoothen the wrinkles.

Of course, you can also use all sorts of medication and skin crèmes, but the ones you will be using will depend both on the type of your skin and your condition. In order to enhance their effect, many people opt for lasers, since they are really effective. The reason why lasers are great is simple – they can reach deep beneath your skin without doing any damage to your skin’s surface. This way they can treat the source of the acne.

In the end, everything comes down to what your dermatologist will say. If you have a history of acne, you should make sure never to do anything by yourself, as this might only make the condition worse. Instead, talk to your physician and decide on the right treatment.
