[Olympic] Possibility of IOC rejected the Japanese charm made of debris

Following up this article..[Olympic] Japanese team was led out at the beginning of opening ceremony

The reason why Japanese team was led out might be because of the accessory made of disaster debris.
A Japanese translator watched BBC TV broadcasting and tweeted like this below.

Japanese prime minister Noda gave the badges made of Fukushima debris just before departure. They went through the custom office of Heathrow airport, but IOC took it seriously. When they entered the opening ceremony, BBC broadcast it live. NHK skipped the part with no comment. 300 members of Japanese team was led out of the ceremony after going round. JOC is denying this fact and say “Team members mistakenly went out”.
<End>

The corresponding BBC TV program is not found on Youtube etc..
Actually his tweet contains 2 mistakes, it was about 40 members, not 300. They were led out at their half way, not full way. However, misreporting of minor facts by foreign media can be seen quite often.

However, the medal was actually made of disaster debris. No data about the radiation level is published.
Japanese government still spreading the propaganda that disaster area is still full of debris to prevent them from reconstructing.

[Olympic] Possibility of the charms made of debris triggered the problem at opening ceremony

Ministry of the environment had elementary and junior high school students in Ishinomaki city and Minamisanriku in Miyagi make 518 charms shaped as medal from disaster debris. (cf. Debris truck raised atmospheric dose from 0.06 to 0.612μSv/h)
The debris was drifting in the sea.
They were given to the Japanese members by 31 local children at Kokuritsuyoyogi Kyogijo in Tokyo.( 7/21/2012) Mr. Murakami, the team leader was supposed to be impressed. Japanese prince attended at the ceremony as well.

We need to verify the BBC News broadcast on TV.

Flippant that such an object went through customs. We are defenseless against “low-level” radioactive scattering.

  2. 11032011 says:

Are there some medals made of melt fuel rods?

Well, my world view has certainly changed. Coming from a nation where people reply to any news of the Fukushima nuclear disaster by a blank stare and “What?”; I did not think that another nation compared with such assinine leaders. See what the influence of America brings you, especially since it appeared that the Japanese wanted to copy the Western culture. I mean you even have a Disneyland over there, and McDonalds with the lead and mercury contaminated toys from neighboring China.

lori, each time something like this story comes through, I think that it can not be any more crazier and then the next story tops it. Even if the authorities put these little ones in danger, refuse to give women testing, and make cartoons telling the people to “drink the tap water”; where are the reasonable people? Where are the parents?

  4. BBC did not broadcast any comment regarding the IOC’s position against Japanese athletes’ peculiar “badges” as I am a British citizen whose hometown is London and was watching the opening ceremony on BBC 1 that night.

Who is this “Japanese translator” spreading lies? Where is the evidence pertaining to the contents of live broadcasting on this matter?

I would be most grateful if you could clarify the facts from fiction. As far as the athlete’s parade in that ceremony, there was only one complaint raised by the Indian delegation which was reported by the BBC later.

As one of the BBC licence fee payers I don’t appreciate demagogues.

    Video is currently downloading… :)

Well, i watched the sequence from the entry of the japanese team up to about 20 minutes later, some time, after the japanese flag carrier planted it down… there is definitel NO video footage of the incident… (Source: BBC UK via onlinetvrecorder.com, source file: Olympics_2012_12.07.27_21-00_ukbbc_210_TVOON_DE.mpg.avi)

But the images over here proof that they were definitely lead out by a group of organizers… “mistakenly” (Huh? At one of the best organized and choreographed events of the year? In one of the “best organized countries” in the world?) or not.

    Greetings! :)

  7. Flo says:

Maybe it was decided “mistakenly” as in “not in proper agreement with all the people who should be asked before deciding to do so”. That would also explain the actual quarrel on higher levels. A “human error” in one way or the other… :/
