The Armenian quarters of Aleppo were not involved in the recent armed clashes in that Syrian city, says one of the leaders of the Armenian community of Aleppo Zhirayr Beyisian.

Azdak newspaper (Lebanon) quotes Beyisian as saying that there were some shots in the quarters but no financial damage has been caused.

According to Berisian, the local Armenians are not going to leave the city, while those who did it will return as soon as the battles cease.

There are some 30,000-40,000 Armenians in Aleppo.
