This summer LNA is teaming up with artist Carly Schmitt, the Youth Farm and Market Project and our neighborhood block clubs to wrap neighborhood utility boxes with meaningful images of objects from the Lyndale community. The question we're asking people to think about when they are picking out objects is What are some unique objects in your home, that best represent you, your story, and your community? We want you to bring YOUR Objects to be photographed at these upcoming events:

It’s really fun to see all the new people signing up for Live Nicollet everyday. Over the past few weeks people from all over South Minneapolis have started signing up for Live Nicollet and letting us know what they’re doing to Live Nicollet.

You might be surprised to learn the founder of Variety Beauty Supply, a leading retailer of ethnic hair care products, wigs and trendy earrings, is a man who came of age when ducktails were in fashion.
But Ed Perlman, co-owner of the Nicollet Avenue store, was meant for the hair business. As a teen, he was a regular at Perlman’s Barber Shop in downtown St. Paul, where for decades his grandfather groomed the likes of governors, gangsters, and for better or worse, him.

Pillsbury Ave and 33rd St. Beginning at 5:30-6:00pm with Garden Tours lead by Youth Farmers. A Huge Free Community Dinner at 6:00pm! And a Program and Performance by youth from 7:00 - 7:30pm.

ESL Classroom Assistant
We’re looking for people to assist the teacher in ESL classes in the neighborhood. Volunteers are also eligible to go through a training opportunity to help you be prepared in the classroom. Gain valuable professional experience while learning about people from other cultures. Classes are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-7:30 pm.
