Mao Asada to support Fukushima victims

2010 Olympic silver medalist and a two-time World champion Mao Asada yesterday took part in a charity ice show in Nikko city, Prefecture of Tochigi, which was dedicated to the victims of the accident at a Japanese nuclear plant Fukushima.

A lot of students from the affected region have been invited there. Mao Asada is not only performed at the Nikko Ice Arena but also spent much time talking with students on actual issues of their lives.

In addition, Mao Asada together with her sister Mai, who is also a competitive skater for Japan,  held ice and choreographic classes, which everyone could attend. The event took place in a warm, friendly and informal atmosphere. The famous figure skater talked willingly with all, sharing her experience and valuable advices. No less important were the words of support for young students.

“I can say you that I really got a great power today.” said Tateishi Chisaku, a high school student from Koriyama, Fukushima Prefecture.

“It was so cool to speak with her directly. Until that day I could only watch her on TV.” commented the other student which came from Sendai.

“Mao is always so wonderful to watch.” noted Murone Arisa from Utsunomiya.
