Welcome To Sunnyland
A Wonderland of Friendship and Antique Boating
Thank you for visiting our Chapter’s website! The Sunnyland Chapter was started over 25 years ago by a small group of avid antique boaters. It is now the largest chapter in the Antique and Classic Boating Society’s family of chapters and covers all of Florida. Our annual Boat Festival in March is one of best in the country, drawing visitors from all over the US and Canada.
We need your help to provide content for the website! Articles, photos and feedback are most welcome. To submit an article, event or other content, click on the Contact section of the site, then on Committee Chairs – Co-Webmaster(s).
Homosassa Springs Weekend Boating EventWhat do Manatees and Matadors have in Common? It’s time for Sunnyland’s annual Homosassa Springs Cruise weekend September 28-30th!
Join us for the lazy days of summer while we cruise the cool waters of Homosassa Springs to the Gulf of Mexico, and enjoy authentic Spanish cuisine prepared by Cruise Captain Robert Williams (born and raised in Southern Spain). Since Homosassa means “the place where the wild peppers grow” in the Seminole language, it seems only appropriate to add some spice to the weekend, along with some great boating in a relaxed, laid back atmosphere.
We have reserved room blocks for both RV Camping as well as hotel rooms, and you can dock your boat at either location for a small additional fee.
Friday nights event is yet to be determined – but promises fun with plenty of “monkeying” around – perhaps at the Riverside Resort where you can catch a glimpse of Homosassa’s most famous prisoners on Monkey Island while enjoying enjoy one (or two) of their famous “Homosassa Mamas” for refreshments!
On Saturday, we will cruise the crystal clear waters of Homosassa Springs, cruise to the Gulf of Mexico, and stop at one of the many “dive bars” that makes Homosassa famous for lunch on your own. There will be plenty of time to swim and enjoy the cool springs before heading to our RV Camping site – Camp ‘n Water for the evening event that will feature Spanish food and drink to celebrate the 500 year anniversary of Spain’s discovery of the Americas right here in beautiful Florida…..
Sunday will be a day of relaxation and boating discovery on your own…with hopes you can swim with one of Homosassa’s gentle giants, the Manatee.
Details are below – hope you can join us!!
