Japan edges Canada 2-1 in Olympic women's soccer
Nahomi Kawasumi and Aya Miyama opened the scoring for Japan while Melissa Tancredi replied for the red and white as Japan defeated Canada 2-1 in their opening round match in Olympic women's soccer. Another Injury
Toronto Blue Jays catcher J.P. Arencibia is expected to miss about six weeks after fracturing his right hand in the second inning of Wednesday's game against the Oakland A's. Arencibia appeared to injure the hand on a foul ball by Brandon Inge during Oakland's eight-run inning. Full Story.

Life goes on for the Philadelphia Flyers. General manager Paul Holmgren addressed his team's attempt to land defenceman Shea Weber on Wednesday, a week after signing him to a 14-year, $110 million offer sheet that the Nashville Predators matched.
