It's been a long and winding road leading Masanori Kanehara back to DEEP for the first time since his split decision loss to Takafumi Otsuka in 2008. However the result was drastically different for Kanehara this time around as he blasted Tony Reyes in round one for a KO win but not before eating brutal kick to the junk.
Akihiro Gono was also victorious in his official Shoot Boxing debut, earning a decision win over “KID HMC” Sage Yoshida. This win may put Gono into this years S-Cup but Gono requested a match with Satoru Suzuki and said he would like the match to be "hands only", no kicking.

If the stars align and the rooster crows all at the same time than Alistair Overeem could fight sooner than we expect.
In a recent interview, Overeem stated his intentions to be licensed sooner than later. Some background information, the UFC will NOT promote a suspended fighter in any way at all. If you notice, when fighters have their licenses revoked, they tend to disappear for that period of time.
“That’s my goal," said Overeem in a recent interview. "I know that the UFC will not promote me on their card as long as I’m not licensed. That being said, we’re going to try to get licensed sooner and I’m confident that I will succeed." A confident Overeem is expected to compete for the title coming off his suspension as he was just weeks out from fighting Junior Dos Santos when it was handed down.
Overeem met with Dana White in the past month and the boss said things went well. Overeem was meeting with CEO Lorenzo Fertita when he had the unscheduled meeting with Dana White. There, the two hashed out the problem and things were smoothed over with the boss. No exact details were provided.
“The last few months have actually been calm media-wise, which was good. I moved to Miami. I’m full-time here now and I got all settled there. I’m still training, always training, always improving my game."

The UFC will be pushed into homes in Australia, this after the promotion announced a broadcast deal with Australia's FoxTel.
The deal will bring the content package that UFC offers into homes throughout the country, promising events exclusively when they happen to fans throughout the continent. Both live fights and the package of reality shows and news shows will now be available to Australian fans.
Prior to this, things were not as smooth. White went on Fox Sports News to talk about the deal while in Australia for the first episode of TUF - UK vs Australia. "The UFC is the most exciting sports organisation in the world and Foxtel is the number one entertainment company in Australia, so this is a perfect match. Australia is pound-for-pound no.1 UFC market for its size, and we are now going to give them more UFC content than ever before. With Foxtel, they won't miss a single minute of action." White said.
MMA is growing in Australia as the continent's largest promotion CFC has been a prime example of this. Shows held in Australia have sold out in lightning time, making it an extremely difficult ticket to get when they rolli into town.
Dana White made some comments recently regarding JMMA legend Kazushi Sakuraba. According to White, Sakuraba was poorly served by PrideFC, ruining a chance for Sakuraba to be the best fighter of all-time if he'd fought in the correct weight class. There is not much to argue there.
Sakuraba was often thrown in fights against fighters 30-40 pounds heavier than himself. Dave Meltzer did a story on Sakuraba that said he could have easily cut to lightweight had he the desire to do so. Sakuraba racked up several wins against opponents that were so much bigger than him that it highlighted his true athleticism.
Sakuraba is a fighter that fought on pure talent. Not known for his training regimin, Sakuraba used his shoot abilities to submit opponents and fend off many submissions. When it came to strikers, Sakuraba was great at taking them down and keeping them away from him, sometimes.
DREAM furthered this, putting him in the ring with fighters such as Melvin Manhoef and Marius Zaromskis. While Zaromskis is a pure striker, Sakuraba was in no way at all a true contender in this fight. Against Manhoef, the outcome was sad, with the enraged Dutchman flat out destroying an aged Sakuraba.
Sakuraba's legend goes without question. The fact that this is so shows how talented of a fighter he was. He could have very well dominated the lightweight ranks, or welterweight ranks had he the opportunity, but it was never granted when it mattered.
