Online blackjack is, as you already know, a very simple card game that is play via the Internet and it is very exciting and interesting. The fact is that the rules are really not complicated, but it is when you are dealt the initial hand that the fun begins – what to do next? What is the best decision to make? In fact, there are certain options that you may choose from and they are called exactly the player’s decisions. There are several different decisions and each of them has its own name, the way of playing and a special signal that a player should show when he or she wants to choose that decision. Thus, this article will deal with the characteristics of these decisions.
Four decisions are usually available, but sometimes there is also the fifth which also has its own signal. The signals are not really important for online playing, but they will be mentioned.
When you choose “hit” it means that want to dealer to deal you an additional card. You signal this decision by tapping the table and scraping the cards against the table with their face up.
The “stand” decision is another one and it means you want no more cards to be dealt to you. This decision is also called “stay”, “stand pat” or “stick”. When you want to signal this one, you slide the cards under the chips with their faces up and you horizontally wave your hand.
“Double down” is also a player’s decision and it entails that a player may raise the original bet by 100%. Afterwards, he or she may take only one more card and after that the player has to stand. Certain games will permit the player to raise the bet solely by the amount of 100%. When signaling “double down” you place the chips that are additional right beside the initial bet and you point with a finger.
The “split” decisions may only be taken as a first decision and it is usually taken when a player two cards that are identical (in the first hand). Then the cards can be split so that there are two hands and an additional bet, the same as the original, is placed. The dealer then draws two additional cards – one for each hand. If a player, however, gets two aces in the initial hand, this option is usually not available. To signal “split” you should place additional chips next to the first bet and point with two V-formed fingers.
“Surrender” can also be only the first decision and in this case half of the bet is given to the casino and half is left to the player. This decision has no signal and it is verbally requested.
All in all, these are some basics when player’s decisions are concerned. Hopefully, this article helped you better understand what your options are and now it is up to you to think carefully and choose wisely and make your own winning combination.
