Kingston-Galloway – Orton Park (KGO) is a vibrant neighbourhood located in east Scarborough. Our community is very multicultural and filled with dynamic residents who work collaboratively with local community agencies and City departments to make the community flourish. We have been selected as one of the 13 priority neighbourhoods of Toronto, which means that the city has committed to improving the area through investments in things like community services and neighbourhood improvements. Residents, agencies and City departments have been working together in many ways to change KGO for the better. Whether you need help, or want to help others, this community, and this website, has something for you!

About Neighbourhood Action Partnerships:
At its core, Neighbourhood Action is about building new service relationships that inspire systemic change that leads to a safe and equitable city.
It is: STRATEGIC, OPPORTUNISTIC, INTENTIONAL INVESTMENT
CITY NEIGHBOURHOOD ACTION TEAMS:
• Community Development-Based on Service Partnerships
• Transcending silos and putting our own institutional house in order
• The City Neighbourhood Action Teams brings all service divisions, and more and more corporate divisions and our related functions like the police, libraries and Toronto Community Housing, together in neighbourhood-based teams to learn about each other and to coordinate our service planning and delivery within a community development framework.
NEIGHBOURHOOD ACTION PARTNERSHIP:
• They are mutli-sectoral tables that go beyond City staff to include residents, community agencies, other orders of governments, faith groups and local businesses.
• They help ensure that revitalisation efforts are neighbourhood-driven by building neighbourhood capacity for decision-making, and generating the knowledge and relationships necessary to develop locally responsive, effective programs and services.
• While partnerships are taking different forms in the priority neighbourhhoods, to be effective all need to:
• Be inclusive and operate within an Anti-Oppression Framework;
• Have effective processes for identifying and taking action on neighbourhood priorities;
• Implement a broader community engagement strategy to ensure diverse needs and opinions are engaged and reflected;
• Operate based on democratic principles.
