May 1-10 Trade Deficit Y818.37bn; Up 25.9% On Yr

TOKYO (Dow Jones)--Japan posted a merchandise trade deficit of Y818.37 billion in the first 10 days of May, up 25.9% from the Y650.04 billion deficit in the year-earlier period, the finance ministry said Wednesday.

The figures are measured on the basis of goods passing customs and are reported before adjustment for seasonal factors.
