First of all, insurance companies will do their best to try and get out of paying up and you also need to make sure that they will pay properly. Let’s imagine, for instance, that you were involved in an accident at a crossroad, with a car hitting you from the side because they ran the red light. The first thing that you do is make sure that all the participants are okay, of course. As you are waiting for them to arrive, you need to make sure you get all the personal details from the other person and from a few witnesses at least. You will also probably have a hone with a camera on it, which is the perfect tool to take photos of the aftermath, making sure that you got everything that might be important, such as skidmarks and the entire scene. This will come in handy afterwards.

In the meantime, the agent should arrive and from this point on, you will pretty much leave it up to them to decide what would be the best course of action for you and the car insurance company. Just make sure that they do not take you for a fool.
