　I have a lot of memories about Christmas from my childhood. Every year my mother baked bread that looked like Santa Clause.
　Also, every year we would eat a big dinner with our family friends. We ate turkey with gravy, potatoes, yams, stuffing, and many different vegetables as well as of course cake!
　As a child the most important thing for me was getting presents. I loved getting presents! We would buy presents for everyone in our family and our friends and give them to each other. On the morning of the 25th my brother and I would wake up early and open our presents. It was so exciting!


　Actually, in Canada many holidays are celebrated, not just Christmas. For example my cousin’s family celebrates Hanukah. Some of my friends also celebrate a holiday called Diwali. In Japan, many people send postcards (年賀状). In Canada, we send Christmas cards. In Japan, many people eat traditional food like o-sechi ryori (お節料理). In Canada, we also eat traditional food (turkey). All of the holidays across the world are different, but they are also very similar too.

I think the best part about Christmas, or any holiday is that we have a chance to spend time with our family and friends. So please enjoy the holiday season and have a nice time with your family and friends!

JLPT N3

Right now, I am studying for a difficult Japanese test. I will take the ‘Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level Ｎ3’ (日本語能力試験三級) on Sunday December 5th. I study kanji, grammar and vocabulary. For me, the most difficult thing is grammar (文法). Japanese grammar is very different from English grammar so it can be difficult to understand.

I like Japanese a lot, because I want to communicate with Japanese people. So, I enjoy studying Japanese. Also, I watch ‘One Piece’ everyday. The characters in One Piece speak very quickly, so it is difficult to understand, but I like it and I can learn a lot.

This summer I went to Mt. Fuji and Taiwan.

Mt Fuji was very nice, but it was so cold! I went there with my friends Ken and Chad and we all saw the sunrise, it was very nice.

I also went to Taiwan.
Taiwan is a very beautiful country.
A lot of people speak English and the food is very cheap and delicious.
When I was in Taiwan, I visited many places and I climbed a mountain with my friends.
It is a very nice place!
Please visit there someday.

Sewing at Shirawaki Elementary School

On Friday July 23rd, I went to Shirawaki Elementary school to teach English to the students there. However, there was a mistake in the school schedule, so the class I was scheduled to teach was in a sewing class. To make the best of the situation, I taught the students English and I made a pen case with them. Here is a picture of the pen case I made.

World Cup Japan vs. Paraguay

It is a sad day. Yesterday Japan was eliminated from the World Cup tournament after losing 5-3 in penalty kicks against Paraguay. Japan played well and they had good teamwork. I think the best players for Japan were Tulio and Kawashima. Paraguay will play Spain next.

I am sad that Japan lost. Now, I hope that Argentina, Germany or Holland wins the World Cup.

World Cup – Japan vs. The Netherlands

On Saturday I watched Japan play the Netherlands in the World Cup. Samurai Japan lost 1-0 against the Netherlands. Japan had many good chances, but they couldn’t score a goal. The Japanese keeper Kawashima is a very good player. He gave Japan a chance to win. I think Japan can win against Denmark. But, that match will be very difficult.
