Inspiration. Show me your Finisher’s Face

I love that inspiration is unique to every person.

Get goosebumps when you see a triathlon?  Awesome!  Your new fabulous sneakers have you running faster than ever?  Go on with your bad self!  Just be inspired. Its a beautiful thing.

Lately, I have been asking all of my friends what inspires them.  In the interest of my What’s Beautiful campaign I’m curious … What IS Beautiful?  What IS inspiring?

The lovely and eloquent Ali shared this with me:

And it gave me a great idea for my final What’s Beautiful project.  I agree with Ali.  Seeing my friends and fellow fitness lovers complete a goal IS beautiful.  Its so BEAUTIFUL in fact that I want to compile a video of your Finisher’s Face.

So send my your pics … email them to rungiarun

It can be something like this

Hands up for 13.1!

Or something like this

Theodora and I blazing toward the finish line

It can be a pic of you training toward your big goal, finishing a long run … finishing a hard workout.

sweaty and happy post long run

Its up to you.  What is your glory moment?  What is your Finisher’s Face?

Send in your photos between now and Friday June 22nd!  I will publish the video on Saturday June 23rd.  Email to rungiarun at gmail dot com

My Father’s Day tribute

As a child I remember knowing how special my dad was and as I watch my children sparkle each time VC walks in a room I know they feel the same way.  I hope that you are surrounded by the fathers that are special to you today.

These 3 men teach me daily.  They teach me as a mother how to let the to do list go sometimes are just have fun.  They teach me as a daughter how to appreciate my elders.  They teach me what it means to balance careers and family, what it looks like to come home at the end of a long day and still have just a little more to give.  I love these men endlessly and I thank my lucky stars for being surrounded by such amazing fathers.

My dad.

A man who took me on my first run.  A man who taught me the art of good conversation, who inspired me to be unique and who will always tell me he loves the sound of my voice every time we talk.

My brother

The bravest man I know.  A man who will never stop loving life even if it challenges him.  A man who has simultaneously raised an outstanding little girl and defined himself as an adult.  I will never stop being in awe of you Hans.  I will never stop learning from you.

My husband.

A man who defines love.  Who is always the most patient person in the room, who laughs, hugs and plays with his children every single day.  Who dove head first into fatherhood with no fear and has proven himself to be even more amazing than I could have imagined.  A man who we all fall in love with just a little more each day.

The Art of Listening

Confessions of a DNS

Let me warn you, I am being very dramatic right now … not at all reasonable.  I'm sorry BUT I hit a wall this weekend.  A Did Not Start wall.  I DNS'ed the NYRR Mini 10K.  *Dun Dun Duh* I don't let my intestines get in my way.  I just … {keep reading...}

Sundays are for toddler track meets and wagons

Our day began with a visit to the New Balance Flagship store for a NB Kids Event. G1 and G2 were pretty excited to find a track meet in progress.  They may have been the youngest participants by far ... but they turned out a … {keep reading...}
