Ladies Musical Club sponsors an annual solo competition in the late spring for musicians age 20–35 who live or study in one of six Western states. In 2012 we added a competition for small ensembles, for musicians averaged age of 20–35. The 2012 competition finals took place on June 2. About the competitionsThe LMC Awards Tour solo competition is open to classical performers of piano, voice, strings and wind instruments. Each year four awards of $3000 are presented. The ensemble competition is open to classical performers of voice, strings and winds in groups of three, four, or five members. One award of $3000, $4,000 or $5,000 ($1000 per group member) is presented to the winner of the small ensemble competition. In addition, all finalists in the solo competition will receive an award of $250 and all groups in the small ensemble competition will receive an award of $300, $400, or $500 ($100 per group member) after performing in the live finals. The competition finals are open to the public, and winners are presented in recital in Seattle on the day of the finals. In September, the solo winners participate in an outreach tour, traveling in Washington state, presenting public recitals and visiting schools to perform and answer students’ questions about music. The small ensemble winner participates in a one-day school residency and performs one recital in the Seattle area. 2012 competition and tour dates
EligibilitySolo competition: Applicants must be between the ages of 20 and 35 and either a resident of or a music student in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, or Montana. Ensemble competition: Averaged age of the ensemble members must be between 20 and 35, and all members must be either a resident of or a music student in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, or Montana.
