Stop Posting “Save Miku” Topics and Videos

Filed under: Hatsune Miku,Miku News,Other — Written by jrharbort on Monday, April 16th, 2012 @ 12:50 am

After observing the community for a while after the incident back in February, I am appalled to find that somehow people are STILL talking about this. I have absolutely no idea why, and it’s also nothing short of disappointing.

Basically, here’s what you SHOULD be spreading around. The problem with video deletions had been solved by Google and Crypton over two months ago, and they even confirmed that the Koreans had nothing to do with it. Oh, and those “Justin Bieber is jealous” jokes aren’t funny. The videos stopped disappearing a long time ago, yet people are still spreading it for some reason.

This leads me to believe that the problem is stemming from all of the new fans who have no idea that the situation was handled a long time ago. So we as a community need to spread the news that there is no longer a problem. Crypton is a powerful company with many powerful partners (such as Google), and they’re perfectly capable of taking care of themselves. They don’t need an army. As fans, we don’t need to do anything more than observe from the sidelines.

Part of this problem stems way back from the TopTens voting incident, when Miku was removed from the list. Long story short, I was the one who convinced the admins to add her back to the page. You can read more about that in the description of the video I posted here: http://youtu.be/m1Xc5kdiTeo

Because of that, she was able to achieve rank #1. People then assumed the Koreans were responsible for the video deletions because their K-Pop idols lost their spot to Hatsune Miku. This, of course, is false. People need to stop spreading this rumor.

So please do your part and help spread this news around so people can stop already. Thank you.

EDIT: It’s nearly 24 hours later, and nearly 10,000 shares. Wow. I did not expect that. I’d like to thank the admins of the Vocaloid fanpage on facebook for the mention, and of course to all the fans who listened.

I agree with you here as fans are spreading this save miku campaign like a war banner and forgetting their love for her music but instead focussing on hate of other music. All under false accusations that have no proof what so ever. The main cause of the deletions are from Japan itself inorder to control distribution of Miku videos with copyrights to make a profit.

i don’t get it that much.. vocaloids, to my knowledge, is a program that started from kai and mei. since there’s not much of an official distinction, on youtube or video streaming sites, it’s hard to filter which ones are made by fans and which ones are made by the company for copyright. sometimes the fans are better than what the company makes but that’s kinda seldom if not, rare.

it’s not like we’re forgetting but we just don’t want to wake up one day not seeing any vids of vocaloids in youtube. you can say that some of us are hopeless addicts of their songs and not hearing them once in a while give us withdrawals.

on the K-pop thing.. i read before that some japanese actors are losing jobs due to the growing k-pop fandom but that is something i cannot verify. though, i could place some speculations that the rumor may started from there since it is the most plausible to anyone who would come across that info. Miku taking #1 really gives a devastating blow to any 3D popstars who worked their lungs off(?) trying to get better.

At least someone who tells the truth! Thank you for this post, now everyone will stop with that K-Popper haters thing -_- XD

  • Comment by Esclanda vince | April 16, 2012 @ 2:44 am

Yeah but the late fans have spreading it again just because
*they want to save miku again?*
what’s this Idea but I hope this would stop… They are taking the aim on k-popers and believers… Just what I’d read… But anyway Saving Miku is done and the issue on it was closed.

Their are n00bs in every fandom and will always try to act “clever” and “supportive”. To be honest I’m glad there is someone like you out there who is spreading “sense” into the “oh so clever” fan base!

Also you say it’s been sorted?
I don’t know if any of these are related but quite a few bug videos have been taken down recently (especially off my damn playlists >W<) and they say its by "sony japan" which sounds all official and worrying…do you have any idea what's going on?

  • Comment by Euphie Britania | April 16, 2012 @ 2:47 am

I agree very much. I told my friend who is also a fan about it and well… he kept on repeating it. Glad you posted this. I’m totally going to share this.

I also agree a lot with Shane Khiu!

  • Comment by Yuzuru Otonashi | April 16, 2012 @ 3:40 am

uhhmm… actually, the bieber part,we didn’t say bieber was jealous, we just hate him naturally :/

  • Comment by Father | April 16, 2012 @ 3:54 am

Bieber IS jealous. Even Kaai Yuki’s voice is deeper than his! Also, he (alongside Lady Gaga and others) was moved to lower places because of her, too. Also, great facepalm!

  • Comment by Yumi | April 16, 2012 @ 4:05 am

An EXCELLENT point brought up. There are too many fans who are treating K-pop fans like criminals because they ASSUME that the video deletions were caused by them, without any proof, like what Shane Khiu said.
People need to think more about what is actually going on before insulting others for their loves and etc. Many thanks for bringing this up.

  • Comment by Sam Russell | April 16, 2012 @ 4:08 am

It is solved HERE, that’s for sure, but in some other countries Miku videos are still banned, so the problem has not gone away.

  • Comment by oph | April 16, 2012 @ 4:18 am

i agree too i saw on youtube “beiber your just jealous” i will spread it!And i saw on face book fanpage “I Hate Miku Hatsune”(wich not created BY ME)

  • Comment by oph | April 16, 2012 @ 4:21 am

oh wait before i say that thing “BYJJ” the word i will spread it it means spread your word

  • Comment by Alex Pham | April 16, 2012 @ 4:40 am

WOW!!!! Your the best!! Now I know why I subscribe to you and watch your videos every week. (love your video descriptions by the way, I always read them) I’m going to post this all over facebook. Yea I really hate false rumors that keep circulating because people are late. Thanks

  • Comment by Lagoon | April 16, 2012 @ 5:18 am

Y’know… Some of hatsune miku fans are just dumb…
How can they not knowing this? It was such a hot news in almost otaku forum…

Especially when the case solved… I think some of the member even announce a unofficial celebration party…

  • Comment by jrharbort | April 16, 2012 @ 8:56 am

There will be some songs where powerful copyright holders like Sony don’t want their property shared. This is the case with Sekiranun Graffiti since they were the publishing division.

  • Comment by IdkMyName | April 16, 2012 @ 10:11 am

I think fans always get into strange conclusions that make them think Miku is in trouble, and your right, Crypton doesn’t need a army of fans just for this incident, people should just let Crypton do their thing while we enjoy some of the music that is still open. Also I never knew that the problem was already fixed, but still I nevered did anything to help those Save Miku fans either.

  • Comment by xXxKaitoShionxXx | April 16, 2012 @ 2:28 pm

What did you expect, its the miku fandom.

Expecting them to lie down and calmly accept something is like expecting the internet to one day be troll free.

  • Comment by riipah | April 16, 2012 @ 2:53 pm

I didn’t even realize some people thought the olympic voting and the deletion of Miku’s PVs were related. This is definitely the first time I’m hearing about it. savemiku.com doesn’t mention the voting/Korea either, and neither did the original “save Miku” videos, NicoNicoPedia (AFAIK), SAVE MIKU twitter or any other semi-trustworthy source. Maybe someone should tell savemiku.com to take the site down if there’s really no danger anymore?

I’d like to hear more about how they resolved the situation though. By ignoring all claims by this Junichi Sasa / Media Interactive / whatever party it was? Did Crypton post about it on their Facebook?

Unfortunately Vocaloid PVs are disappearing from Youtube all the time (about half of the videos in my playlists are deleted) because of copyright claims (some of which are false) and the rate seems to be nothing but increasing. I’ve given up trying to create playlists on Youtube.

  • Comment by jrharbort | April 16, 2012 @ 2:57 pm

Youtube worked with Crypton to put an end to false claims on Vocaloid related videos.

As for videos still disappearing, this isn’t because people are targeting those specific videos. The account that contained the video may have been flagged and removed for legit copyright claims on their other videos. It only takes three claims to have an account terminated. When that happens, all of the videos they had are removed. There’s a lot of reprint channels that reprint dozens of channels daily without even looking at the author’s terms of use or copyrights. This can result in a flag from a particularly overprotective producer.

Every fandom has an infinite potential to become annonying. specially one as fragmented as the vocaloid.

vocaloid is no rival for any kind or type of music. is a completely new universe expanding.

but most Westerners are socially conditioned to always stay alert for a “possible major external threat” against the things that are important to us. and has been at least since the Second World War, we were educated to live in fear.

if anyone still searching for somewere to make ruckus this can be a good place for that:

    “Madame Tussauds x Hatsune Miku
Please help us vote for Miku in Madame Tussauds poll
Madame Tussauds Bangkok (Thailand) has now start the poll on making the new Wax model for the museum, and one of the available choice is “Hatsune Miku”! Although this Miku wax model might be available only in Thailand, this could be Miku’s first step into the world top celebrities officially.”

I think people have a right to continue posting, they WANT to save Hatsune Miku because they LOVE her. It appears to me that you don’t give a second glance and you WANT Miku gone!

  • Comment by jrharbort | April 16, 2012 @ 8:18 pm

Then I suggest you re-read the article. From what I gathered from your response, you didn’t read it at all. I’ve contributed far more to Miku’s sake than most people.

    Glad to hear…..

but i’m curios…. why this news is so late to be published?

but anyways, VERY PLEASE TO HEAR THIS…

  • Comment by Alex Deal | April 17, 2012 @ 7:12 am

thanks for the good article. I’ll admit some of us did jump the gun on the thing for the Olympics. But not all of us are being hateful about it either, I have not touched any videos and was peacefully trying to fix the situation. But I have seen other things that make me think that the help is still relevant. Recently saw some very popular Miku videos get taken down for copyright reporting, and they were brought back up, but it still seems to be going on. Even though it isn’t as crazy as it was, I think there is at least reason to watch closely :D

  • Comment by jrharbort | April 17, 2012 @ 10:11 am

@Toshimiku deyatsune Xvocaloid: Please re-read. The admins of TheTopTens clearly acknowledged my argument and agreed to add her back after what I said. I also clearly said that the entire community was slamming the site with messages, and that the admins of Miku’s Facebook said thank you to EVERYONE involved. But I guess you missed those bits.

  • Comment by korean | April 17, 2012 @ 5:53 pm

R U sure it is Koreans?
I’m Korean and most Korean don’t know about ‘Save Miku.’
I knew this from a web cafe. Why does Korean has to be a victim?
Of course I love Miku. And there is a lot of people who like Miku and Vocaloid in korea. I’m not sure Korean fan club will do things such as making Vocaloid videos out of Youtube.

  • Comment by jrharbort | April 17, 2012 @ 5:54 pm

    I said it’s NOT Koreans. Don’t worry.

  • Comment by Zealot | April 17, 2012 @ 10:08 pm

    @Natalya Nacchan
Save Miku. It’s the people’s on youtube’s choice to reamove the videos or its copyright. Miku is a voice program, I like her but its just that people think she will disappear just like that. while there is a source called Nico Nico Douga? . _.’

  • Comment by SieylahxMaple | April 18, 2012 @ 1:07 am

    *Correction
    Save Miku? really?

  • Comment by NicoP | April 18, 2012 @ 4:55 am

    great vieo uploads jr! ^^

  • Comment by Kyon. | April 19, 2012 @ 2:58 am

I’m mildly amused how people mistook your means when you said it so clearly in your posting, Jharbort.
I think most people should just read and understand it before posting.

  • Comment by Nekopocky | April 20, 2012 @ 5:37 pm

Actually I found it funny people were so upset about the whole thing- they were enacting like Miku was being killed overall- just Miku.

  • Comment by HACHI | April 22, 2012 @ 2:34 am

“The problem with video deletions had been solved by Google and Crypton over two months ago”

    Please stop spreading this falsehood.
The problem is not solved by Crypton or Google.
It’s just that Crypton knows the problem since more than 2 months ago. The problem is not solved.

And we still don’t know who “Sasa Junichi” is.
All we know about him is he isn’t a copyright holder and he was making false reports.
He can do the same thing again. Threat still remains.

However, I agree that people should stop posting “Save Miku” videos.
The purpose of “Save Miku” is not to promote re-uploading the videos.

  • Comment by jrharbort | April 22, 2012 @ 10:36 am

Videos stopped disappearing with false claims two months ago (at the very least, no longer on the same scale they were disappearing). I’ve yet to see a single new one in quite a while now. That alone kind of speaks for itself.

  • Comment by kupatchibento | May 8, 2012 @ 9:40 am

I’m really glad I found this, I found out about the problem long after it had stopped. My sweet Miku, please continue to sing for us.

    I love you miku

I was in the group for a long time now and i was happy to meet other fans there from around the world but after a local campaign that i thought was good was in the eys of others making us look like blamers and haters too. it defeated the purpose of what i wanted to do. this was a real eye opener. This isn’t the way to go. for all the others that are in a similar situation that i was in i hope this was a good reality check for you too.
