“Brightness falls from the air”
How many layers of the virtual images should we pile up to reach the reality that we want to find out? Otherwise, is it possible to believe that sometimes a lie comes to true?
In the field of virtual images, the endless pursuit of imaging technique is getting more remarkable than before. It seems to suggest that how much we are eager to grasp a sense of reality through the visual means. Occasionally, the body of works of Kaoru Usukubo is referred to such an intention of more and more precise representation of the visible world, however it is her consideration that the realism in painting is rather to be related to the question about how the things are, from an existential point of view and that is just what she concern.
Kaoru Usukubo, born in 1981 in Japan, studied at Zokei University and the National University of Fine Arts and Music in Tokyo. She participated in “VOCA2010-The vision of contemporary art”(The Ueno Royal Museum, Tokyo ) in 2010,”Yokohama Triennale2011-Our magic hour” in 2011.
