We hope to raise $25,000 to bring them home to safety. While they will be living with Carol while Josh searches for a job, they will need ongoing medical attention, and they will be starting from scratch as they build a new life. For additional information about life in Japan today, please follow our link to a youTube video Josh suggested.
The Josh Swift family has been gravely impacted by the Japanese tsunami and the 2000+ earthquakes that followed since March 11, 2011. The children are sick from radiation poisoning and the food source has been compromised. They must move to the USA now!
Currently, at the Swift home in Chiba, their Geiger counter registers radiation levels 70 times higher than normal. Radiation levels remain high at the children's school as well, so they receive constant doses of radiation from the air, food and drink, which has sickened all three children.
Kokomi, their ten month old daughter, has been hospitalized and diagnosed with Kawasaki disease, an autoimmune disease that attacks the heart and capillaries She will need ongoing treatment in America.
Her older brother and sister also have autoimmune diseases, and Josh was diagnosed with stage 3 melanoma on the bottom of his foot in June 2008. He has received treatment and is currently cancer-free, but he commutes 4 hours a day to work and back. Dealing with the rugged conditions in Japan, as well as worrying about the safety of his family is taking a serious toil on his health.
THE DECLINING HEALTH OF THE CHILDREN LEAVES THE SWIFT FAMILY NO ALTERNATIVE. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT THEY COME TO KANSAS TO SAVE ALL THEIR LIVES, BUT THEY ARE VERY HARD-PRESSED TO DO SO WITHOUT OUR HELP.

We finally received the test results for Mimi's finger nails. Junya bites his nails and Kokomi nails do not grow as fast so we just sent in Mimi's nails to a German lab that tests for toxins. I will not go into the specifics other than she tested in the red for uranium but they did not indicate the isotope. Simply stated, the results for uranium would be the same for a mine worker. All the other radionuclides that fell here tested in normal ranges. I suspect this is because we watch what we feed them as well as have them drink Zeolite everyday which removes heavy metals.

Izumi's application for a green card finally was submitted to Homeland Security. It is a difficult process but after three months we can finally say she is in the system. Let's keep our fingers crossed that processing is quick. Thank you again for all of your support and thoughts!

We live in Inzai City. Please see this blog as to the location. On March 20th a plume of radiation fell on our area. The pictures were taken by me (Josh) and that is my hand measuring radiation at Junya and Mimi's school. The national government has declared any area over 0.23 μSv/hr as an area for "decontamination." These measurements are after three decontamination rounds and are still above 0.23. At a meter high, I cannot find any area below 0.25 μSv/hr outside walking where my children walk to school.

I would like to thank my mom for using her network to help us get out. It is difficult to ask for help when you are the primary receiver but even more difficult to ask on someone's behalf. I thank you all for taking time to read this and understanding our plea.
