Propecia is a drug that is commonly used by men to help with male pattern baldness problems. Essentially, it stops the massive production of the DHT hormone that causes men to lose their hair. Many people are interested in finding out whether this drug can work for women as well. It is not likely, because it is designed for men, and women have different hormones that work differently. Also, when a man loses his hair it is something genetic and hereditary. These hormones are increased in a man’s body genetically and if you have a family history of baldness you are very likely to be bald yourself.
However, when women lose their hair, it is usually a completely different reason that is behind it. There have been some studies done on women who suffer from female pattern baldness that were using Propecia. There were actually no differences seen in between women using Propecia and women who weren’t using the drug in this study.
Some people say that this confirms that Propecia does not work for women. But some people believe that it needs to be tested more and that a bigger study needs to be done in order for the results to be more satisfactory.
Also, there have been studies in which Propecia was given for women in order to cure a reverse effect. Propecia was given to women who have problems with having too much body hair and it seemed to work in reducing these problems. However, again the study was not that big and a lot more clinic research needs to be done in order to see whether or not Propecia can be used for women who suffer from the excess body and facial hair condition, which is called hirsutism.
It should be stated that Propecia does not always work for men either. It only works in about 50 percent of cases. Also, it is a very slow process if it does work. If you are taking Propecia for a year and you are not seeing any changes, that means that you can forget about taking it any further, because it will not work for you. If it is going to help a man re-grow some hair, then the man will probably see some positive changes after three months of using it. Also, if a man sees that it is working, he must continue to use it. If you re-grow some hair after six months of using Propecia and then you stop using it, the chances are good for you losing that hair right away. If you are using Propecia and it is working, you must be dedicated to the medication and you have to continue using it in order to see more progress in hair growth.
There is still not cure out there for male pattern baldness and even though Propecia does not work for everyone, it is one of the best solutions out there and there are many men that have seen results and would recommend the use of Propecia highly.
