Japan’s Four Million Dollar Car Accident
Last year, a 14-car pileup happened in Japan near Hiroshima. Among these 14 vehicles were eight Ferraris, one Lamborghini and two Mercedes Benzes. Totaling an estimated four million dollars in damages, this was reported to be the most expensive car crash in Japanese history. Police believe excessive speeding caused the accident. A witness told the officers that the drivers were traveling at speeds over twice as fast as the set speed limit.
“In 1999, speeding was a contributing factor in 30 percent of all fatal crashes (seriousaccidents.com).” Nearly 13,000 lives were lost in speeding-related crashes that year. The NHTSA reports that speeding related crashes cause an estimated $28 billion in damages annually in the United States. Understanding the dangers involved, 75 percent of licensed drivers still admit to committing this offense regularly. 411 Pain strongly recommends adhering to the speed limit at all times. Not only is driving above the speed limit against the law, it can also be extremely dangerous. 411 Pain advises motorists to drive as cautiously as possible.

411 Pain Stands Against Drunk Driving
The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Association) reports that over 275,000 people were injured in alcohol related auto accidents in 2003. According to DontDieDrunk.org, “Drunk drivers kill someone approximately every 48 minutes. In 2009, 1.4 million people were arrested for driving under the influence. This is less than 1% of the amount self reported by adults. Alcohol-related crashes in the United States cost the public an estimated $114.3 billion in 2000.”
411 Pain would like to remind you that the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle becomes significantly impaired while intoxicated. Drivers make decisions they would not normally make. For example, 39-year-old Dennis Carroll of Nyack, NY crashed into a boat at Petersen’s Boat Yard yesterday. The impact knocked the boat over, causing an estimated $30,000 in damage. Carroll was found to be intoxicated at the scene and a background check showed that he had previously been convicted of driving while intoxicated. 411 Pain strongly urges individuals not to drink and drive. They would like to see the roads a safer place for everyone.

St. George Woman Survives Devastating Car Crash
A 33-year-old woman driving a 2009 Ford Mustang (St. George, Utah) was taken to the hospital after being involved in a car accident that left her car completely destroyed. The woman sustained very serious injuries, but is extremely fortunate to be alive.  Her car was virtually in pieces from the back seat, forward. Her engine was actually tossed from her car to the vehicle traveling directly behind hers. No one else was injured in the accident. Witnesses were shocked at the fact that the woman survived the crash. The aftermath was devastating. The most important thing is that there were no fatalities and no other drivers were injured.

The Truth About Texting and Driving

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that 995 people die every year in the United States as a result of using a cell phone while driving. Another 24,000 people are injured. Officials are bidding to pass laws prohibiting the use of cell phones while driving nationwide. According to a Virginia Tech Transportation Institution report, “Sending or receiving a text message takes a driver's eyes off of the road for an average of 4.6 seconds, which is the equivalent-at 55 mph-to driving the length of an entire football field while blindfolded (EasternNews.com).”
Contrary to popular belief, teenage drivers are not the age group most responsible for cellphone-related fatalities among drivers. The majority of cell phone related fatalities are a result of drivers between the ages of thirty and forty. There are, however, a greater number of teenage drivers who admit to texting while driving. The larger percentage of cellphone-related deaths among drivers between thirty and forty years old could be due to a higher number of total drivers in that age group. Regardless of who is causing these accidents, one fact remains clear. The use of cellphones while driving is extremely dangerous. Many fatalities occur every year because of cellphone use while driving and thousands of others are injured.

The Many Benefits of Sensible Driving

With gasoline prices steadily increasing, there are many people wondering what they can do, aside from purchasing a new car, to save money on gas. DriveSmarterChallenge.com has shared several ways in which drivers can tremendously reduce their fuel costs, while continuing to drive their current vehicle. DriveSmarterChallenge.com’s first recommendation is sensible driving. They report that “Speeding, rapid acceleration, and rapid braking can lower gas mileage by as much as 33% at highway speeds.” Studies show “drivers can save up to 240 gallons of gasoline, or up to $913, by driving sensibly on the highway (DriveSmarterChallenge.com).” They also recommend traveling with as little extra weight as possible and decreasing your speed. Studies show that “Gas mileage usually decreases rapidly above 60 miles per hour.”
Driving less aggressively can also help reduce the rate of auto accidents. Sensible driving habits can help improve the environment (less gasoline burned), decrease fuel costs for drivers, and possibly reduce the number of car accidents. With accident rates as high as they are, it seems that a little sensible driving can go a long way. It is not always possible to prevent a car accident from happening. As drivers, our job is to be as cautious and alert as possible. Still, however, accidents do happen. In the unfortunate event of a car accident, it is important that people protect themselves. An auto accident can significantly impair or even completely eliminate a person’s ability to work and perform daily tasks.  This is why it is so important to have access to reliable medical and legal services. Teenage Drivers at Greater Risk of Head Injuries

Teenage Drivers at Greater Risk of Head Injuries

A recent study performed by State Farm and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia revealed that “As many as 30% of teenage drivers sustain fairly substantial head injuries when involved in car accidents. Over 55,000 teenagers and their passengers were included in this study.” The study suggested that skull fractures and concussions were the most common head injuries associated with teenagers and car accidents. It is unsure why head injuries are so common among teenage drivers. The rate of accidents among teenage drivers can be more easily explained. Their inexperience contributes significantly to the likelihood of them being involved in an auto accident.
A car accident can significantly impair your daily routine. Personal injury and damages to your vehicle can limit or even eliminate your ability to get around. You may become unable to work or perform even the simplest of tasks. It may not always be possible to avoid a car accident, but it is possible to limit the amount of stress that can result from one. It is important to seek professional services if you have been injured in a car accident. 411 Pain has been in business for over 15 years. The 411:
Teenage Drivers

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety reports that “A total of 3,466 teenagers between the ages of 13 and 19 died in motor vehicle crashes in 2009. This is 60 percent fewer than in 1975 and 15 percent fewer than in 2008.” Teenage drivers are at a greater risk of being involved in auto accidents for a variety of reasons. For example, teenage drivers are less experienced, may become distracted more easily, and are more likely to text and talk on the phone while driving. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that “Thirty-three percent of deaths among 13-19-year-olds occurred in motor vehicle crashes in 2009. 16-year-olds have higher crash rates than drivers of any other age.”
These are extremely startling figures, considering the number of teenagers drivers on the roads these days. Though the number of deaths resulting from teenage drivers has decreased, there are still far too many auto accident related deaths involving teenage children each year, and an even greater number injuries. A car accident can completely disrupt a person’s life. If your vehicle is damaged during the accident, you may have little or no available transportation. This can significantly limit one’s ability to work and if you are injured in an accident, you may not be able to work at all. It is important to have access to proper medical services and legal advice during times like this. 411 Pain is a medical and legal referral service. They have been in business for over 15 years. We cannot control who is sharing the road with us or what they are doing. We can, however, control how we choose to protect ourselves in the unfortunate event of an accident. Remember, after 911, call 411!
