Does Straight Talk plan on getting smart phones?

I have straight talk and I love the service but I hate my phone. Does anyone know if a smart phone from another carrier like verizon or tmobile will work with straight talk? I went to their website and called their customer service number but got absolutely no help whatsoever. Thanks!

Chosen Answer:

Straight talk actually does have some smart phones, however they don’t have any Android phones yet nor do they have the iPhone.

Though there are reports of people using their iPhone on the Straight Talk GSM network by taking a SIM card from a Straight Talk phone and putting it into the iPhone, it is not allowed by the Straight Talk Terms of Service.

See the link under “Source” below for some other pros/cons of Straight Talk and some ways to save on Straight Talk service. I also put a link under “Source” to one of the more “advanced” phones that Straight Talk offers (in some markets)

Also, to answer your question regarding taking a phone from another carrier and moving it to Straight Talk: According to their Terms of Service, the answer is “no” you can’t do that, however people have successfully done it with GSM Phones (AT&T and T-Mobile), since some straight talk phones run on the AT&T GSM network and if they are unlocked they can accept a SIM card from a Straight Talk phone.

So my old computer died and got a new one. However, it seems like I have to sync my iphone songs with the new computer iphone library…which is none..is there a way to transport songs already existing in your iphone onto the new computer? Help please!

How can I save battery life on my HTC EVO 4G?

I’ve noticed that android batteries don’t last as long as iPhones, is there a way to kinda save more battery life on my phone?

Chosen Answer:

Try looking at what options you have turned on already e.g. Wireless, Bluetooth and your screen brightness. These are all things that will help to drain your battery quickly. Personally, if I’m not using them I turn them off. You might also want to investigate downloading an app that “kills” other apps from wanting to connect all the time when you’re not using the phone. I use “Advanced Task Killer” on my HTC. Works in the background (ironic) “killing” others from eating away your connection. Available on the Google Marketplace. Check it out!

i’m looking for a smart phone that has good quality picture taking; quick snap shots on moving targets. and of course. any models? i hear htc surround was descent but i’m not sure. please help. thanks

p.s- the auto-focus is a bit annoying because of how long it takes to take a good picture, i need one that has that quick snap shot ability.

Chosen Answer:

nokia n8 is the best. U dont need to use the auto focus if u dont want to. There are free apps on ovi store like shutter pro and panorama and a very cheap paid app called camera pro which let u further change the settings to suit u.

I have no programming background so I am willing to start learning it before writing iphone apps. What is the quickest way to learn just enough to start writing iphone apps? Thanks.

Chosen Answer:

You can learn to create simple iPhone apps but if you want to create good iPhone apps so you have to learn alot. You can find many tutorial online related to iPhone Application Development.

Besides the price and the fact the shift slides, is there any kind of performance difference? And if anyone has had these phones, are the good ones?

Chosen Answer:

Shift:
CPU Processor Speed: 800MHz
Screen: 3.6in 480×800 Resolution
Has a keyboard
No front facing camera
5MP rear camera

EVO:
CPU Processor Speed: 1GHz Snapdragon
Screen 4.3in 480×800 Resolution
No Keyboard
Front facing camera
8MP rear camera

Those are basically the dirrerences. and also size.

I’m a college student and would like the phone to have a speaker so I can transfer my lectures to my cell phone and be able to listen to them while I drive. Needless to say the phone would have to double as an MP3 player. I have chocolate touch from verizon (Its about two years old or so) and the touch reaction is going hay wire. Should I get another chocolate touch phone or is there a better option out there? Again, I don’t want a smart phone!

Chosen Answer:

The pantech hotshot seems pretty good. It has a regular 3.5 mm headphone jack and is all touch. Also, no data plan. The hotshot seems better then the crux IMO. Also, some older phones are the lg versa, the lg dare. The lg’s are pressure touch sensitive And not capacitive meaning you have to press relatively hard and can’t just rest your finger on the screen for it to register. DO NOT consider the glyde. I had it and literally went through about 5. The sliding keyboard kept breaking off. Also, it’s old and not a good headphone jack.

What stuff can a tablet do that a smartphone and a laptop can’t do? From what I have observed it seems people only buy tablets because of the hype that greedy companies create with their aggressive advertising.

Chosen Answer:

The screen is larger. Reading a book on a tablet is doable, and can be a nice alternative to reading it either on a laptop or a smartphone. Same goes for watching a movie. A tablet can also have better battery life than a laptop, and is usually smaller and lighter than a laptop yet offering a larger interface than the smartphone.

I do agree with you that most people who have laptops and smartphones probably don’t need a tablet, though, but that’s neither here nor there. I might buy a tablet in the near future, but that’ll be my FOURTH computer rather than my first or second – I have a desktop with storage and excellent gaming specs, I have a laptop for work, I have a smartphone which is fairly old (and probably needs replacing soon) – but a tablet does have its own, specific niche where I might use it rather than take out my laptop.

My phone is stuck in recovery mode and i need to enter the passcode so that the iphone can connect to the itunes. My phone won’t show the keypad and i can’t enter the passcode. HELP!

Chosen Answer:

I think you mean lock down mode. That is when you enter 10 or more pass codes that are incorrect and then your screen says “Try Again in ___ Minutes”. If this is your problem you have 2 choices.
(1) Remember the pass code to your iPhone
(2) Go to AT&T or Verizon Wireless (whichever one is your carrier) and ask them to fix it. Although, you might need a proof of purchase, because they might think that you stole the iPhone or found the iPhone on the street.
*If your iPhone was jail broken and unlocked and your carrier was for example T-Mobile, I don’t think they wouldn’t be able to fix it.

If you actually mean Recovery Mode where all your screen does is show a picture of a wire and the iTunes symbol, then you need an AT&T or Verizon Wireless sim card that does not have a pin. (So basically if your sim card has a pin, you have to go to your carrier and get a new sim card) If your phone was unlocked, it’s locked now and a T-Mobile, Sprint, (etc) sim card will not work.

Hope this helped. I would recommend checking your instructions booklet which came in the iPhone box.

I’ve read on forums where it worked but non say the app they use, I’ve tried barnacle)doesn’t even show up) and also WiFi tether( stays on connecting buy doesn’t connect) please help!
And yes phone is rooted
